Getting out there Posted July 6, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2013 We will be taking a cruise from the Port of Miami in Oct. Our hotel provides free transport to the cruise, but wondering what to do when the cruise is done. Can we arrange something on the ship? It's just my husband and I. How much do you think it will cost?
Ocean Boy Posted July 6, 2013 #2 Share Posted July 6, 2013 A cab would be the easiest. There will be plenty lined up at the pier. The cost depends on whether you are flying out of MIA or FLL.
Desert Cruizers Posted July 6, 2013 #3 Share Posted July 6, 2013 Depending on your flight going home, you can arrange a Post Cruise Tour, after the tour they will take you back to the Airport.
malprl Posted July 6, 2013 #4 Share Posted July 6, 2013 Take a cab....even if you're going to Miami, for 2 of you it's the easiest, fastest, and most cost efficient. Now if you have the entire day to spend, look at other options! If you leave no later than 1, cab it!
Clarea Posted July 6, 2013 #5 Share Posted July 6, 2013 I agree with OB, cab if airport is MIA, but shared shuttle if airport is FLL.
Getting out there Posted July 6, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted July 6, 2013 We're flying out of MIA. Our flight doesn't leave to around 3. I finally got a hold of RC (took an hr. when they kept saying 5 min.) I can get a transfer for $16.80 apiece. That's $33.60 for both of us. Are you sure taxi is cheaper? A website priced it out at $45. I don't think there's any shore excursions. It doesn't show any.
Ocean Boy Posted July 6, 2013 #7 Share Posted July 6, 2013 For two people it may come out close to the same price either way. For more than two people the cab would be cheaper. I priced out a cab at about $32.00 with tip.
waterbabe40 Posted July 6, 2013 #8 Share Posted July 6, 2013 My experience with Miami airport has been terrible. I would much rather use FFL even with the added expense of getting there. Be prepared for LONG LINES and major confusion.

Our hotel provides free transport to the cruise, but wondering what to do when the cruise is done. Can we arrange something on the ship? It's just my husband and I. How much do you think it will cost? You can take a taxi. On the ship you can book a bus that will take you to the airport or you can book an excursion that will take you to the Everglades and then to the airport. I've done the taxi. It is about $26 plus tip. I've also done the excursion ...
whyrlygig Posted July 7, 2013 #10 Share Posted July 7, 2013 As of now, the only thing offered from our Majesty sailing in September is the "Big Bus Tour". We were hoping for some more options but there don't seem to be any.
Desert Cruizers Posted July 7, 2013 #11 Share Posted July 7, 2013 Cruizer, I wish we got to do the Everglades tour coming back from our TA, but there was such a delay in getting off and thru customs, we missed the tour along with over 200 passengers missing their Post Cruise Tour. Next time.
MonDreamr1 Posted July 7, 2013 #12 Share Posted July 7, 2013 Taxi should be a flat rate of $24 (plus tip) http://www.miamidade.gov/business/taxicab.asp To/from port http://www.miamidade.gov/business/library/fees/taxi-cab-fares.pdf Airport http://www.miami-airport.com/hotel_shuttles.asp
cb at sea Posted July 7, 2013 #13 Share Posted July 7, 2013 Yes....the taxi is cheaper and faster. There are TONS lined up. You will, however, have a LONG time to wait, if your flight isn't until 3....you will be off the ship before 10 am, and that's if you linger! They want the ship cleared ASAP, so hanging around isn't much fun!

Next time. Normally the tours meet somewhere on the ship and the group gets priority debarkation (with an escort) so that everyone makes it to the tour. Krazy Kruizers Posted July 7, 2013 #15 Share Posted July 7, 2013 Since your flight doesn't leave until 3 PM -- take a tour -- there will be a couple that will be offered that drops you off at the end at the airport. We have done the Everglades tour -- it is excellent. Your luggage will go right onto the bus. You will not be able to check in your luggage early at the airport. You might consider Luggage Direct from RCI.
Krazy Kruizers Posted July 7, 2013 #16 Share Posted July 7, 2013 I wouldn't consider taking the bus transfer to the airport unless it was part of an excursion. That way you can kill some time before your flight leaves. Other wise -- take a taxi.
Desert Cruizers Posted July 7, 2013 #17 Share Posted July 7, 2013 We met beforehand, but weren't allowed off. Customs were so backed up with our coming off the TA, we finally were called shortly after 10, but weren't outside with luggage until 11, Many never made their flights. That had to have been the worst disembarkation we had ever seen. I know some were still trying to get off around 11. I believe they didn't start allowing passengers back on until after 1 PM.
