Sasksilver Posted May 26, 2018 #2626 Share Posted May 26, 2018 Just booked the Star Princess, re-positioning cruise from Santiago, Chile to Los Angeles, California - March 14, 2019. Both inside and oceanview were priced 35% off so pretty good deal for 16 days and 6 ports. I grabbed an interior as I plan to spend lots of time at the Terrace pool. Midwestern Cruiser Posted May 26, 2018 #2628 Share Posted May 26, 2018 It doesn’t have Sitka as a port, but I sailed Celebrity Solstice in 2016 to Alaska and it was fantastic. The ports were great, but the ship’s working relationship with the Corning Glass Blowing workshop and their onboard demonstrations was perfect entertainment with the glory of Alaska as a backdrop.Sent from my iPhone using Forums Sitka and Tracy Arm are faves for me. Hardly ever go without one of them on the itinerary. Have to do a longer cruise to get both though. Next trip will be #6 & I hate missing anything (except Skagway). Holland does have several train/teach/learn sessions...haven't seen one with glass blowing though. Sounds great!

karen1821 Posted May 28, 2018 #2630 Share Posted May 28, 2018 Shotput,I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my wife of 46 years about 1 1/2 years ago. We so loved cruising together and had planned on at least 2 cruises a year. Since I lost her, I have only gone on cruises with my immediate family but I have a solo cruise coming up in November. I tend to get a little misty eyed when watching sunrises and sunsets since we both loved them. But mostly I just remember how much my wife loved cruising and I try to enjoy them for both of us. She was such a fine person and if she enjoyed cruising so much, it must be a good thing. Enjoy your cruises and remember the good times. I lost my boyfriend seven years ago and sail solo also. I have two coming up. The first is in September on the Harmony, and the second is in November on the Anthem. Any chance you are on the Anthem also? Shotput50 Posted May 28, 2018 #2631 Share Posted May 28, 2018 I lost my boyfriend seven years ago and sail solo also. I have two coming up. The first is in September on the Harmony, and the second is in November on the Anthem. Any chance you are on the Anthem also? Right now I'm just considering if I want to take one of the cruises my wife and I used to take (mostly Mexico) or to try something new. We were Platinum members on Carnival, so most of our cruises were with them. Enjoy your cruise.
NSnJW Posted May 29, 2018 #2632 Share Posted May 29, 2018 So far I have only cruised on Carnival and NCL. My solo is coming on the Epic in November and I have another family cruise in March on the Conquest. Enjoy your cruises and don't forget to enjoy life. gerryuk Posted June 9, 2018 #2650 Share Posted June 9, 2018 Just out of interest regarding the studios on NCL, i have seen many videos of them on Youtube and they look right up my street. One thing though, i have not seen on any of these videos, anywhere to sit other than the bed. Are there any chairs in these cabins so one can sit and read a book, or is it the bed only? For me this would be a dealbreaker, regards.
