Port facility beach

It looks like the beach facility near the dock is pretty nice. Lots of places to get drinks, food, and shop. Has anyone been there? What do you think?

We always enjoy having a port stop in Grand Turk.

Margaritaville is within the port complex and has a HUGE pool.

Makes for a Fun day! :D

 

A bit farther down the beach is Jack's Shack ... a good place too!

Between Jacks and MV is Local Village (a bit rustic, but Albert's a great host) and there's a new casino with beach access between LV and MV. Turn right out of the Dufry shop and head toward the excursion boat pier and you'll find loungers without the party hearty crowd, Some good spots down that way (past the whale sculpture) to enjoy a good smoke without people taking offense (no bar service though).

The Local Village is currently close and waiting reopening by the new owners. You can take a tram tour of the island that leaves from this location.

A question for anyone who has been to Grand Turk. We are arriving on the Liberty 2 hours later than the Carnival Splendor. Will there be chairs/umbrellas available at the Margaritaville or Jack's Shack beach?

Most likely some at MV. Jack' only has a few. More on opportunity on east side of pier, toward the excursion pier than at MV. But no food or drink there.

This is one of the better ones thanks to Carnival building this.

 

There is a very nice beach.

 

There are stores.

 

There are places to eat and to drink.

I'm going to be a dissenter and tell you I didn't care for GT. There were no bathroom facilities for the beach near the cruise center other that at the center, and they were filthy. The coral right as you enter the water makes it a difficult place to swim with small kids. I didn't hate it like I hate Nassau, but I wasn't thrilled there.

We were there last year on Carnival Liberty, and it was the best port on our trip. We hit the beach first, and yes, there were some rocky spots, easily avoided. Then I went to Margaritaville with a book, found a shady spot, napped and relaxed. I thought the pool was fine. No apparent problem with sanitation. DH and grown son and wife walked down the beach, and easily left civilization behind.

 

We all liked GT a lot and would definitely go back.
