Fishbait17 Posted August 14, 2013 #26 Share Posted August 14, 2013 Not exactly. CAS has four levels, Lucky, Hot, Golden and VIP. To attain VIP status, like Skeeter195 was talking about, you would have to acheive 35,000.00 points in a calendar year. Keep in mind points do not equate to dollars, as you must spend a few dollars for every point. I have been told that dollar wise, you are talking about $75,000 plus. Skeeter195, does not seem to be saying that she gambled in that range, but she won a major jackpot, which would automatically put her higher in the categaories because they want to draw her back into the casino. Most average cruise gamblers will not get out of the Hot range ($2,000 plus per cruise). Fairly serious gamblers ($5,000 per cruise) might get to Golden. I know I am a fairly serious gambler, I get free cruises with multiple cruise lines, and I would never even approach the VIP level.....it is just way too much....... I believe hpecorari was referring to their own level, which is CAS VIP. Robin

I do sail more than once a year as my tagline shows and have reached VIP level sometime during my Breakaway cruise last June. Harriet
khaide612 Posted August 14, 2013 #28 Share Posted August 14, 2013 We usually book our cruises through CAS to get discount or use free room credits. Never did more than a minisuite until last year. When we traveled non-suite, we were given a playing card and sent to the priority check-in line - not the latitudes but the suite line. After check in, we were directed to the boarding area. When we traveled Haven in December, we waited on the same priority line but then were sent to the priority lounge where there were light refreshments and chairs. This was all in New York so I'm not sure about other embarkation points. The other perks have been wine and chocolates. We have also gotten dinner in specialty restaurants with wine. Sometimes they have a CAS party, sometimes they do not. We were told it depends on the host and how many CAS people are on board.

CasinoCruzGirl Posted August 14, 2013 Author #30 Share Posted August 14, 2013 Just called NCL and asked about a drink card. I was told that there will be one waiting for me and whoever is in my cabin (21 and over) upon arrival so I do not have to wait to earn points to get one. Great to hear considering I have never sailed on NCL before I guess the way they booked my certificate through the Taj Mahal it included it. Is it sailing time yet? Well leaving for Vegas on Friday at least for a week I guess I should think about that lol
ladytravlr2 Posted August 14, 2013 #31 Share Posted August 14, 2013 I was on the Breakaway in June, through the CAS program. Yes, got to check in very quickly, but still had to wait with others to board. It was pretty quickly too, although not instantly...which is fine with me. Other cruises through CAS, we had chocolate covered strawberries, cookies, etc....not this one. Don't know why. Nothing special at all. Did have drink card as usual though. This was my third CAS cruise, and going on my fourth in October.

Great to hear considering I have never sailed on NCL before I guess the way they booked my certificate through the Taj Mahal it included it. I had sent a general e-mail to CAS inquiring about any casino discounts I would be eligible for. I had never sailed NCL. I usually cruise Carnival, where I get discounted casino cruises, discounted regular cruises at casino rate, etc. The next day CAS got back to me offering me a free inside cabin due to my (minimal) play at Foxwoods. I was about to book a VIP casino cruise on Carnival, so - for the heck of it- I asked about Breakaway, which was sailing the same day in August as the CCL Freedom, which was a Premier casino cruise offer. I never expected CAS to say I could get a cabin on Breakaway. Well, they did, and for $900 I upgraded to a large balcony cabin. I had to pay the 3rd passenger rate for my dd, but even with this it ended up cheaper than Carnival's casino cruise would have been. I am getting the drink card for dh and myself - none for dd. (even though she is over 21) I am saving alot on the airfare I would have spent getting down to FLL, saving on a pre-cruise hotel and food, and I am trying a new line and a brand new ship. Can't beat that!! And I leave Sunday!!:D
CasinoCruzGirl Posted August 14, 2013 Author #35 Share Posted August 14, 2013 That's great we also got the free cruise from the Taj Mahal in Atlantic city but that was for an inside cabin So for $860 per person we are now upgraded to a mini suite with large balcony 310 ft.² total I'm so excited. I did a mock booking for the M6 cabin and the total for 2 would be $2,986 but through my Certificate it came to $1,720 got two. I do plan on spending a lot of time in the casino. It's what I really enjoy doing.
skeeter195 Posted August 14, 2013 #36 Share Posted August 14, 2013 Its not how much you spend, but how much action(time played and average bet) that you do. I got this Special VIP treatment(which is above the VIP CAS level) before the new levels. But if it was was during this period, I would have earned over 100,000 points from the one cruise. I will not say what I won, but lets just say on the first night at 11:30 I cashed out 430 black chips(they had no purples for some reason). The winning continued all week until the last day when I lost $14000 and I did not even blink. It was an amazing run that started with only $500 on the first night. Just wondering about these numbers. According to the NCL site the points are; Reel Slots - $5 Coin-In = 1 Reward Video Poker - $10 Coin-In = 1 Reward By my calculations to reach Hot you would have played through $25,000. To reach Golden you would need to play through $75,000. I know on my last cruise I played through at least $5,000 but am only Hot status. Am I wrong in my calculations? luvthesun&water Posted August 14, 2013 #41 Share Posted August 14, 2013 if you are a suite guest and CAS guest- go thru the Suite VIP checkin line. That works out much better than CAS checkin line.

Any of the Caesars (total rewards) properties (Harrahs, Caesars, Bally's, Planet Hollywood, Rio, Flamingo, The Quad, Paris) is who I go through for my discount. Also, join NCL's players club and depending on what you gamble on the ship, you could get up to a free cruise (my November 2014 curise is in a Penthouse for 11 days and I only had to pay taxes and port charges).
