What does your C&A level mean to you?

Another case I'm hearing of missing out of the balcony discount. Suites certainly are allowed.

I am surprise at the amount of people that do not take advantage of the balcony discount. Always book an interior or OV. When applying the Balcony discount sometimes it very few $ more and I have seen occasionally less

If it is a port intensive cruise, I would and have forgone a balcony for an outside and used the difference toward private excursions. Even with discount outsides are cheaper

spookwife may not have yet reached a tier level with C & A where it is offered, so may not be missing out on it. She indicated only that they always book suites - may not have the opportunity yet for a balcony discount.

That being said, however, she was incorrect in her belief that the discount only applies to "standard" balconies - it definitely applies to all balconies, suites included.

They have been around so long and are seasoned travelers, that I have a feeling they have reached that level. Only they can answer that.

My Grandson is 19 years old and is Diamond, on his own points. I keep telling him how lucky he is...not to be Diamond, but to have been taken on so many wonderful cruises and to have seen so many wonderful places compliments of a WONDERFUL Grandmother (lol).

How true... How true

I use many of the perks already mentioned, but the biggie for me this year was being able to book a solo balcony on Quantum and get the full balcony discount, which will be D+ by the time I sail. It was cheaper than an inside!

What kind of people are in the lounges?

the times we have gone to the lounge we have seen people that are sitting quietly together and don't look like they wanted to be bothered. I prefer the regular banter I've always found at the pool bar.

After reading another thread here,

Just being curious, what people think that your C&A level equals.

We are diamond, to us that level means that we get: discounts on cabins, priority check-in, coupons to use on board, and other perks associated with the loyalty program, in short a nice thank you from, RCCL for being a loyal customer.

What are your thoughts?

That I've taken many cruises? Probably not much more than that. I like perks, but any striving I do to reach the next level isn't so much about what RCI will give me for having that on my account as it a little *ding* in one of the many games of life. Anybody can get there if they're willing to spend the money on it.

Mine (Gold Status) means:

RCI needs to come back to Los Angeles so I can cruise more, or I need to become a pilot to get free airfare to cruise as much as I want to...

In reality- it just means I NEED to cruise more!

Her signature says their first cruise was in 2006, so not sure how many cruises or what level they have reached in their 7 years of cruising. It is a shame that if they have earned a balcony discount that they did not realize that it applies to suites. As you say, only they can answer that.

Same here. We are D+, we enjoy the perks - free laundry, balcony discounts, priority check-in, the DL or CL at night to enjoy cocktails, coupons for BOGO, Match Play, pictures ect. We also enjoy the free gifts in our cabin - toiletries (which I take home and give to the homeless shelter), basket with goodies, 2 bottles of beer and a bottle of champagne. C&A party, invites to other events, lots of stuff depending on the ship. Just a nice thank you.

We cruise Royal b/c we love the ships and staff, but the perks are a really nice benefit.

We do MTD, We time our entry into the DL for when the early seating people are leaving for dinner. There is much more room and less groups. More attention from staff. We have our cocktail, enjoy meeting some folks and go off to our dinner.

On our last couple of cruises we found others that adhered to a similar schedule and made some great friends.

Don't get me wrong, I like the pool bar, too for a diet Coke, but I limit myself to one grown-up beverage a day, so if I can get it for free, I'm a happy sailor. (BTW, wine with dinner or on the balcony with a cheese plate from room service does not count):)

When I started this thread, I was expecting that the vast majority of fellow cruisers, felt the same way about the C&A level they have reached, it appears that most people are happy to be a part of the loyalty/reward program.

Unlike the very few who occasionally post here, that seem to have a sense of entitlement, and give the wrong impression of the majority of RCCL repeat cruisers.

My lowly gold, soon to be plantinum level, means I should have STARTED out on Royal Caribbean, rather than migrating from Carnival! I'd be further ahead!! :D

At my level, the perks are minimal, but I still appreciate being recognized. Even just having the representative say, "Welcome BACK" when I check in means something to me.

The vast majority of people I have met in the lounges are nice people who love the cruise and prefer Royal Caribbean. They are basically regular people with the exception of having been on many cruises. True, there have been a few I've seen that act and feel like they should have some say in how the ship is run due to their status, but there are people like that in life all the time even without having some kind of status.

What does your C&A level mean to ME?

Absolutley Nothing....just as with casino's, etc, it is nothing but a shrewed marketing ploy out to get you hooked....they don't own me for C&A Points, that when considering what I put into it, I get very little in return....

Balcony Discounts....there are people who deserve entire cruises as perks.....

I am one that believes the whole system should be scrubbed and replcaed with something that amounts to real incentives...

We will be taking our first cruise on Legend as Diamond+. We are looking forward to using the BOGO free coupon for the specialty restaurant. Also, the laundry, since we will be doing a B2B, and will be spending 21 days on the ship. The free internet is also a great perk. My C&A status is a loyalty status and we enjoy getting the special perks offered. We enjoy meeting other cruisers while in the Diamond Lounge talking about cruising.

OK, just one question, if it means absolutley nothing to you why do you so proudly fly your diamond plus flag in your signature? It means a lot to mean but I dont need to fly any flags to proclaim my status.

Only if you wear it all day and especially in the Windjammer. :D

Wondering where the heck that pin of mine went to.

Janet, if you don't wear your pins, you could do what one poster here suggested, several years ago: take both of your pins to your local jeweler and have a stunningly unique pair of cuff-links made for Barry. After all, I agree with you -- he looks so dashing in a tux!

Hope you guys have some great cruises coming up. It's a small small cruising world, and I just know we'll run into each other again eventually! :D

What an awesome idea! I wonder if the push pin back would hold them in place? If not, I'm gonna do it. :D

We had to postpone our Baltic and TA B2B this month as I am battling (and winning) small cell lung cancer. But we intend to to the same cruises next summer.

Look forward to seeing you both again.

Janet, I wish I could remember who posted that idea, but they actually put up pictures of the converted C&A pins (can't remember if they were D or D+). But, their local jeweler did an outstanding job of taking the face of the pin(s) and mounting it on a standard set of cuff-links -- VERY classy looking!

Wish you guys could be with us for our upcoming Century (Feb 15th). It sold out within three weeks -- I've never seen anything like it, in all my years of cruising!

Bingo.. Hell I am still gold.. will jump to the next level next month at the end of our next cruise

Obviously I misread the 'balcony discount' fine print. if I eventually get to Diamond I will remember that.
