Entertainment on Longer Cruises

Have been looking at 28-day round-trip LA visiting Hawaii and other South Pacific islands. Have never taken any cruises longer than 14 days. Can't imagine Princess having enough production shows, comedians, etc. to provide nightly entertainment for this length of cruise. Can anyone comment on what to expect in this regard?

Thanks in advance,

Larry in Tucson

We did this cruise last March/April. Entertainers were switched along the way. Drop one off , pick one up. A pretty good mix. Also local entertainers were brought aboard in port. Hula dancers etc. The best entertainment onboard at the time was Tom Franeck (?spelling.) he is a wonderful pianist and entertainer who was in Crooners Bar, and on several nights in the Vista Lounge because his audience was too large for Crooners.

Having done 76, 49 and 45 day cruises I must say the repeat entertainment was a bit of a nuisance. The quality of some of the visiting 'comedians' and 'magicians' was doubtful (in one case 3 'magician comedians in one week and they ALL had the same tricks (badly) and jokes from Readers Digest) but we still enjoyed the cruise and it did mean that you could try the alternative entertainment when there was a repeat.

On the last cruise the films were repeated ad infinitum Marigold Hotel and Hunger games about 6 times each.

Have done the 28 day cruise you are talking about this past April. Enjoyed it a lot, even the 8 sea days at the end and would do it again. But I must report that the CD did a fairly poor job in scheduling entertainment and other evening activities. Some CD's are better than others in breaking out of the 7 day model. Ours wasn't.

I concur wholeheartedly with the above comments. Despite a good cruise, the on board entertainment was somewhat lacking. We were on for 19 of the 49 days and heard many people complaining before we disembarked. In addition to the above-mentioned movies, a couple of the movies shown were for the teenage demographic but there were no teenagers on a 49 day mid-winter South American cruise. If you are a fan of jugglers and magicians with bad jokes you would love it.
