The game will probably be on the pool side screen, bar TV's, and the room TV's.

goforhome Posted September 30, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 30, 2013 We cruised on Super Bowl day 4 times. It was always available in the lounges with TVs and in our room. I think the Fox games had Joe Buck and Troy Aikman announcing but no commercials. The CBS or NBC games were shown on ESPN Desportes with different announcers and with ads but not the ones you would see in the US.
lakelorain Posted September 30, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 30, 2013 Also RC usually provides football food. We've had hot dogs, tacos, nachos etc. to eat while the game was on.
ryano Posted September 30, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 30, 2013 On Radiance in 2011, it was shown in the main theatre on a HUGE screen. They had hotdogs and other finger foods available. That was before Radiance got the big screen out at the pool though. One thing is for sure, you wont have any problem finding many places to watch the game :)
cndcruiser65 Posted September 30, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 30, 2013 I hope that they also will show the Winter Olympics at the pool during February.:)
luvbrady Posted September 30, 2013 #8 Share Posted September 30, 2013 In Dec on Liberty we were able to watch a regular season Sunday night football game on the pool side screen. I would think the big game will be a shoo in! Otherwise there is always several lounges to choose from.

Cruisercl Posted October 3, 2013 #10 Share Posted October 3, 2013 But the important question is, will we be able to see the commercials during the Super Bowl? Really that is what it is the most fun.....IMO :p We will be on the IOS and have the same questions. Happy cruising all!!!
momof4_tn Posted October 3, 2013 #11 Share Posted October 3, 2013 We have cruised during Super Bowl two years. It's usually a big deal. They had a special area set up with free game food. It's a fun experience. One year it was in the theatre and one in a bar area. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
goforhome Posted October 3, 2013 #12 Share Posted October 3, 2013 You will not see the commercials. The feed is from ESPN so they show different ads.
mo&fran Posted October 3, 2013 #13 Share Posted October 3, 2013 actually, the game is broadcast on ESPN international, so all commercials were for espn soccer games. Unfortuneately, the highly popular commercials are not shown. Certainly miss them, but not enough ti reschedule a cruise.
gerif Posted October 3, 2013 #14 Share Posted October 3, 2013 You can always set up the DVR to catch the commercials for when you get home and just fast forward through the game. I prefer the commercials myself.

negc Posted October 3, 2013 #16 Share Posted October 3, 2013 actually, the game is broadcast on ESPN international, so all commercials were for espn soccer games. Unfortuneately, the highly popular commercials are not shown. Certainly miss them, but not enough ti reschedule a cruise. That isn't always the case. When we were on the Jewel of the Seas on Super Bowl Sunday a few years back, the telecast included all of the national advertisements. Only the advertising periods that were reserved for local stations were blacked out. We have found a similar situation on regular season NFL games from CBS, Fox, NBC, and ESPN where the national ads were shown but not the ads that local stations could insert during the broadcast. LookingForward2 Posted October 3, 2013 #17 Share Posted October 3, 2013 the last time we cruised during Super Bowl, the game was shown in the theatre. It was a great party atmosphere.

Anyone sailed on the Super bowl Sunday share their experience please. We have sailed Super Bowl sunday for 5 of the last 6 Super Bowls and 4 of them were on Freedom class ships. The game is on everywhere. Pool, bars, theater, room etc. It was always an ESPN feed so we never saw the commercials. As someone else said, there was a small buffet set up in Studio B with burgers, dogs, tacos salads, and a pull down screen to watch the game. Get there early because it does fill up. Funny thing, we live 10 min away from MetLife stadium and we would rather watch the game on the ship.;) ps. We'll be sailing with you so see ya on board:)
Rare rafinmd Posted October 3, 2013 #19 Share Posted October 3, 2013 It depends a bit. I've been at sea for the last 2 super bowls. 2012 was on HAL Zaandam and it was a bit strange, with the game in the small movie theater and a weird mix of tailgate and breakfast foods. We just left Singapore and the game was something like 7AM Monday. It looks like RCI has about 4 ships in Asia or Australia next February. Last year was Enchantment sailing up the Chesapeake Bay with the Baltimore Ravens playing, and the game was on EVERYWHERE. I watched from the Viking Crown lounge, looking out over the new pool screen. A few people were even on deck, although it was quite a chilly night. LucasLounger1 Posted October 3, 2013 #20 Share Posted October 3, 2013 I'm cruising over Superbowl in February on Indy but have no interest. Do you think there'll be other entertainment or will it all be pre-empted for the big game?
trev71 Posted October 3, 2013 #21 Share Posted October 3, 2013 I know on the Oasis they had it every where we went. It was on the aqua theatres and the studio b, I know they had pogos, hot dogs and hambugers , it was like a huge party.. I watched a bit of the half time show that was it but for sure you wont have a problem seeing it
Trekker954 Posted October 4, 2013 #22 Share Posted October 4, 2013 We will be sailing on the Freedom for Super bowl. Does anyone know if it can be viewed from the pool side big screen or on in room TV? Anyone sailed on the Super bowl Sunday share their experience please. They will set up a superbowl party in theatre and pool deck (meaning hot dogs, chips and salsa - which runs out before the first commercial); oh speaking of commercials - you will NOT see the commercials broadcast!!!!! Nope, nada, not happening. You can also view the superbowl in Viking Crown, the casino bar, On Air and schooner. And in your cabin. There were places we thought we could see it, but it wasn't on. There are many TVs here and there, but they will tell you they don't or can't get it everywhere.
