Rhapsody of the seas arriving in Sydney tomorrow

Recommended Posts

Heard on the radio today that the ROTS is arriving tomorrow, but because of the fleet show on, cars can't get to the OPT. Has anyone heard anything?

Apparently people have to get off at 5.30am, that is very early

Graham (Gbenjo) who works at the OPT will know what the arrangements are so hopefully he will come on and tell us all. :)

We are sailing on her tomorrow afternoon and we have to start boarding at 10.30am and everyone must be on board by 2.30pm. We sail at 4.00pm:D

We are leaving for Manly this afternoon and will go over to the Quay on the Manly Ferry. We had been told that there would be road closures and they couldn't guarantee any cars being allowed there.

Bags can be dropped off from 7.00am:eek: and I believe after 11.00am bags will be being dropped elsewhere and it will be a matter of 'following the signs'.

Cheers

Di

Thanks for the introduction Gaechann:D:D

As far as I know we are aiming to get the debark started as early as possible but I dont think it will be 5:30am (don't think she will berth till about 5 ish) maybe 6 or 6:30am and we will start embarking hopefully about 9:30 or so.All the pax were supposed to be advised and to embark as early as possible so we shall wait and see.

I know there have been countless phone calls to all sorts of people about road closures and traffic but I don't think there will be many problems picking up debarking (that's debarking..not " the barking":D ) passengers and the embarking pax should be ok as long as they don't arrive too late. At worst they may need to walk from Bridge Street but I don't think so.

Rhapsody MUST ( tha'ts MUST) be gone from the OPT by 4pm regardless of whether there is one or one thousand passengers not checked in so lets hope everyone is aware. The cruise is actually a Rock and Roll charter ( the music not the sea conditions) so hopefully Cruiseco has told everybody.

This is the message we received:

MPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE EMBARKATION AND DEPARTURE FROM SYDNEY FOR “CRUISE N GROOVE” – 5 OCTOBER 2013 ABOARD RHAPSODY OF THE SEAS

As many of you will be aware, the departure of Cruise n Groove on 5th October coincides with Naval celebrations and evening fireworks in Sydney Harbour. Given the large scale nature of the event, the NSW Police and Premier’s office have now advised that Rhapsody of the Seas will be now have to depart by 4pm on 5th OCT. All guests will need to embark by 2:30pm.

As the ship will need to immediately make her way out of the harbour area, Rhapsody will not be able to view the evening fireworks.

There may be some road closures on 5th October, however this will be assessed by police and traffic authorities throughout the day. To avoid any potential issues with road closures, guests can deliver bags to the Overseas Passenger Terminal before 11am on 5th October and then return for boarding as per staggered check in:- .

10:30am Deck 8

11:30am Deck 7

Noon Deck 4

1:00pm Deck 3

2:00pm Deck 4

If road closures are enforced, access to the OPT will be restricted and alternative arrangements will be put in place for a bag drop zone in Arthur Street. This will be clearly marked with Royal Caribbean staff on hand to assist.

Please note that there is no parking at the Overseas passenger Terminal at any time on 5th October.

Apparently this went to everyone.

Actually this cruise is the Cruise-n-Groove (A Charter). We have the Village People, The Temptations, The Supremes, Marcia Hines, Leo Sayer, JPY and more - should be fun.

Cheers

Di

Hey do you think with all those warships in the harbour and if the Rhapsody doesn't leave before 4pm the fleet might have some target practise :D:D:D

Thats funny, give her a bit of a hurry up getting out the harbour. I guess they want to get the ROTS out before all the small boats crowd the harbour for the fireworks. Maybe the ROTS might do some target practice on the little boats in its path.:D:D:D

Hi Dizziedi

Could you tell me who sent the email please as Arthur Street seems incorrect.

Have just spoken to our office and the baggage drop off will be in Alfred St not Arthur St (must have been a typo) but that is only a last resort if they close the roads which is not expected to happen.

Just had another text message from the office. Verified it will be Alfred Street (NOT ARTHUR)for luggage drop off but only if roads are closed

For debarking Pax: Express walk off (self carry) will start at 5:30 and first tagged luggage approx 6:15am and last at about 8:30 am

For Embarking Pax must be checked in by 2:30pm and hopefully check in will start about 10:00am

Hope they are intending to set up a cafe in the OPT for people to grab breakfast before they leave. 5.30 is so early.

Just got off the Rhapsody. We docked about 5a.m and I disembarked at 6.45. Had a very enjoyable time and now it's back to reality.

There are three charter cruises lasting 7 days each then it's back to normal for the Rhapsody.

Elaine.

Welcome back Elaine. You wouldn't have even had time to take in the scenery of the fleet review. Looks like a great day in Sydney. been watching the TV this morning, So many navy ships.

Some good shots of Rhapsody on the TV coverage of Prince Harry's visit for the Navy review. Passengers aft starboard on Rhapsody would have got a good view of Harry's meet & greet with the crowd in Campbell Cove.
