Clarea Posted July 19, 2016 #26 Share Posted July 19, 2016 ... But for pity's sake, what does Royal Caribbean CARE how I use my free picture coupon?!?!? They offer, I use. That should be all. Just another chicken...t policy to limit perks.
*twinkle* Posted July 19, 2016 #27 Share Posted July 19, 2016 I don't know who told you that I called the C&A ambassador onboard about whether my 14 year old was eligible for the free photo (he didn't get a "junior" welcome aboard C&A letter, so we had nothing to refer to), and she told me the age was 21 and over. monorail81 Posted July 19, 2016 #28 Share Posted July 19, 2016 So they simply put that picture in the bin. What a waste! Save the Waves, though!
Merion_Mom Posted July 19, 2016 #29 Share Posted July 19, 2016 Save the Waves, though! Surprisingly (perhaps), they reuse and recycle. :)
The_Big_M Posted July 20, 2016 #30 Share Posted July 20, 2016 I Eventually they relented, but let me know that they were bending the rules. Anyone else ever had this happen? Similar, but worse. On my Quantum cruise earlier this year, the photo staff denied that there was any free photo offer at all! Spoke with 3 staff mutliple times and even went up to get the letter confirming it, and they tried to reword it to say there was no free photo offered. Ultimately after escalating elsewhere, they relented, but without explanation why they had that stance. Agree with the comment that it's odd that juniors don't get the benefit either. In our case on another cruise we were caught out by them listing the junior member on the same benefits notice, but then when we went to claim told it didn't apply. Well, she was wrong about that. Once they turn 18, they are no longer considered "kids" and the kid's coupons, curfews, etc. don't apply. If they have C&A status, they get the same offers as any other adult, with the only exception, as I said earlier, being that they can't use the ones that are for alcohol until they turn 21. Rare BillOh Posted July 20, 2016 #32 Share Posted July 20, 2016 Yes, in the past both Diamond members received the coupon. ### I can confirm, on our first Diamond cruise we bought less pictures that normal. (3) When we bought them, the clerk gave us the 2 most expensive ones free, and we paid for the 3rd.
Rare BillOh Posted July 20, 2016 #33 Share Posted July 20, 2016 Last month on Explorer, where photos are digital, I was not allowed to use my free photo for one of my grown son and his family. They said I had to be in the photo. :( First time that has happened to me. My gut feel, and this has no credibility to it. I'm betting that ship, or that clerk was using their interpretation. I see and hear that in so many ways with Royal. At least on Oasis the pictures were digital, but I had the folder where I could get many of the ones they had on display. Tralynn222 Posted July 20, 2016 #34 Share Posted July 20, 2016 On Majesty in January I was able to use my free ecoupon to purchase a picture of my sister and her family, no questions asked. The picture wasn't for her, it was for me and my wall at home. I don't think RCCL should limit what pictures you're allowed to use the coupon for and all ships should have the same policy.:confused:
jules815 Posted July 20, 2016 #35 Share Posted July 20, 2016 Is it any style of picture available for free?

Though I can understand from the ships point of view someone might get angry if they find out someone else bought a picture of them.
Rare LMaxwell Posted July 20, 2016 #37 Share Posted July 20, 2016 That's a reasonable thought. Though I can understand from the ships point of view someone might get angry if they find out someone else bought a picture of them. If you are buying they don't care, unless it is in a "package" then they do care. if you aren't buying and it is a freebie they do care. I understand it; they want to maximize the number of photos that can be sold a la carte to others and like a drink package don't want "sharing". I bet at some point someone got an unlimited photo package and thought they'd take the whole wall and hand them out so Royal put a stop to that PDQ. In my experience the free photo has had to be from one that is already printed on the wall; they have given us our two with no problem.

In our case on another cruise we were caught out by them listing the junior member on the same benefits notice, but then when we went to claim told it didn't apply. I would say part of their idea of the free photo perk is a person will go to get their free photo, see some more they want, and in the end buy a few that they might not have looked at otherwise. (Same idea as the casino match plays, get them in the casino and they'll spend more money beyond the free perks). A junior is not going to be buying any pictures (and for those younger in age, probably don't care of them), so no sense giving them one. They'll get their arcade credits (and run to the arcade to blow through them and spend more money there *grin*)
CruisinBarb63 Posted July 21, 2016 #39 Share Posted July 21, 2016 I know this thread is three years old, but it seems the best place to put this: While on the Grandeur last month, I tried to "buy" a photo of our tablemates as my free photo (Diamond Plus) -- we were going to give it to them as a surprise -- but was told that I couldn't because I'm not related to them. Okay, fair enough. So, then, I immediately said I would instead get a photo of my 12-year-old daughter (who was standing there right next to me while this conversation was happening) from formal night at dinner. They gave me such a hard time because -- apparently -- you can only use the free photo benefit if you, yourself, are in the picture. Otherwise, you have to pay for the photo. This, according to staff of the Grandeur. I was pretty surprised because that has never happened on any other RCI ship. I've never had an issue getting a photo of our daughter by herself as the free photo. Eventually they relented, but let me know that they were bending the rules. Anyone else ever had this happen? Very strange. Last fall while on Indy, our first RC Cruise, a couple offered us their free photo as they travel frequently and aren't interested in the photos any longer. I met them at the photo "shop", showed them the two I wanted and they had no problem purchasing them. Maybe because I was there with them and I was in the photo?
