As far I've seen there are no rules.

No curfew at this time. Good parents enforce their own curfews and don't allow their children to be wandering around the ship at all hours. But then there are the other parents...................

Does anyone know if there is a cutoff time that kids are allowed to wonder around the ship without adult supervision ?

Just wondering if kids say 14 or 15 are allowed to go up on lido deck late night for pizza or icecream

I saw kids under 10 at 2 am in the morning. There were tons of teens hanging out and a few making out and clearly under the influence, so getting pizza should be fine.

No curfew but some restricted areas after certain time.

I didn't say it was a rule or suggestion. Just posting what Carnival says about the subject.

Even though it is a suggestion, it could still be enforced. Which I have never seen happen.

We stay on Lido and will let the kids (10 and 12) go once or twice late at night. They just think it is really cool to go get pizza and ice cream at midnight for some reason! If I was on Riveria I am not sure I would do the same thing.

We always give ours parameters - you can be at these places and must check in at this time.....and make it clear that if security brings them back to the room that is where they will stay the rest of the cruise. Works great for us and the kids have never gotten in trouble.....

CCL suggests a lot of things.

Tips

Dress,

Kids curfew,

Serving food at the buffet,

making noise in the hallway late at night,

You dont have to follow any of those things.

Do what you want.

After all its CCL.

The low price leader.

Carnival seems to have really late night parties for teens, from what I have seen on the schedules, so it is not surprising that there are teens wondering around after the parties finish.

My grandson will be 13 on our next cruise and while we want him to enjoy the activities, those parties go very late (into the wee hours of the morning ) and we're not sure if we can stay awake that late!:o

So I guess this means the higher priced cruiselines do have curfews for kids under 18?

I was worried about drunk people. Shouldn't have been. The roaming teens drove me crazy and I'm a high school teacher/counselor! They would even gather where people were watching the outdoor movies and talk loudly. No concept they were bothering people--or they just didn't care.

I don't think they go to the teen club on the ship because they were all over the place.

What I saw repeatedly was unsafe for kids. As a parent I have never seem so many young unsupervised kids late at night on any vacation, anywhere. The overall census is, it's no one's business. Well the lovely tan I now have is not from birth but suggesting a curfew for young children. Hormonal teens hanging out late with alcohol, preview to college freshman year.

NEVER! I would never let my kids wander the ship alone. Just because your on a cruise doesn't mean that everyone is suddenly a "good person". Pedophiles and Rapists take cruises too! Too much risk. Stuff happens, and you can't take it back. You are basically on a floating hotel filled with staff, people from around the world, and empty unmonitored rooms. That's obviously my opinion, but you can take it with a grain of salt if you like.

My son went to a party with Camp Carnival on our last cruise that wasn't over scheduled to end until 3am!!! It didn't start until 10. It wound up not going that long. I think he was back around 1:30 but the counselors escorted all of the kids back to their rooms and you had to show your sign & sail card when they knocked to compare with your child's. I don't think they do that type of supervision for the teens. Maybe they should. Nothing wrong with the kids hanging out but I'm sorry, by 2am the only folks that should be roaming the ship alone are the grown folks!!!

Last month my 14 year old thought it was his life's mission to personally consume all the soft serve ice cream on the Fascination. He'd get two cones at a time. He failed, but I know he went to the Lido deck at all hours- starting immediately after breakfast, but excluding about midnight-6am. He could have went then, but I think a teenager's metabolism needs a few hours of downtime for food processing. I wish I could eat like that.

If they do escort the kids back then we may not mind grandson attending if it is a sea day the next day, but don't like the idea of him coming back to the cabin alone at that time of night.

What is the difference between being unsupervised at night than unsupervised during the day.

Freaks come out late at night. My daughter can ride her bike to the park during the day, wouldn't consider it at night. She isn't allowed to be out of the house after certain hour and always in by a certain time, except for prearranged sleep over. Depending on age you allow freedom but provide guidelines.

My daughter is 9, she has a bedtime of 8:30, we enforce it as well on ship. We tend to get a bowl of ice cream before bed, then back to the room for bed or homework ( if she has some from school). I stay in the room and read with a booklight another hour before I go to sleep ( the wife goes out to shows). I have laid in bed and heard kids yelling down the halls all hours.

During the day, I have seen kids as young as 6 or 7 wandering by themselves, often groups of kids 8-12 playing in hot tubs for hours on end, never a parent near. I think it would be wise for Carnival to have a strong curfew for those under 16, say 10PM or so.

Kids under 16 roaming the ship alone is one of the worst things I see on the ships.

Wasn't there a song called " the freaks come out at night" back in the 80's
