Food in the bars?

Is food (snacks, sandwiches, appetizers or such) typically available in any of the bars?

That's a good one! Not sure now that I think of it.

We would normally just go to buffet then out to the aft bar and deck and eat whatever snacks we found there and get a beverage.

Never thought about it at martini passport or cellar masters though...

The only things I've ever seen are the little containers of snack mix in the bars.

I have seen trays set up but only when there's an event going on in the bar/lounge like meet & greet or private function.

No it's not available. Personally, I think that would be a very bad idea to have food there, trying to keep the areas clean and not full of dirty dishes or uneaten food. There are enough places for food without having it in the bars and lounges.

Is there a shortage of staff?

The idea of a cheese and or charcuterie board in the likes of Cellarmasters or Michaels appeals to me. Not to others?

Some of the bars such as the Martini bar have snack mix. Cellar Masters has cheese, olives, a vegetable and bread sticks. On some cruises they have this set out on a table for you to help yourself, or if not busy the sommelier will fix you a plate. On our last cruise there were prepared serving plates with the 3 items on them. The sommelier would bring them to you.

Bars such as Crush, Martini Bar, Molecular, Passport, and the Casino bars all don't have food - they just have some (albeit very good) snack mix. The only places we have been served small plates of food have been in Michael's Club & Cellar Masters. Hope this helps :-)

As others have said, Cellarmasters has something depending on the ship. Some ships have had an assortment of cheeses, some have had pre-prepared plates with an individual, or couple, sized assortment of cheese olives and other items. These have all been complimentary but on the Silhouette last December they had a much smaller selection of no-extra charge items there (just breadsticks I think) and offered a small tapas menu at an extra charge. This is the first time I've ever seen food with an extra charge other than the caviar on a few bar menus or meals at a specialty restaurant. Here is a link to that menu: http://lfsimon.home.comcast.net/~lfsimon/Cellar-Masters-Wine-Menu-Silhouette-Dec-2012-s.pdf

Occasionally there will be a special wine, or other beverage, event with food at the aft bar or on the lawn. Usually something like tapas or cheese. These might be just before dinner or late at night.

There also will be some sort of deck party, or in the sky lounge, once or twice each cruise with food available usually around 10PM but this is a special event as well.

One of our favorite bars for the late afternoon, early evening, is the sunset bar or the bar aft of the buffet. There is often a nice selection of snack type items available in the buffet around then. They have a nice "tea" spread with little sandwiches and pastries from around 4PM to 4:45, pizza all the time, and they set up a sushi station which opens between 5 and 6 PM depending on the cruise. All of these make for nice snacks while you're enjoying happy hour out on the aft deck.

If you enjoy a drink in your cabin you can order snacks such as a cheese plate, fruit or a pizza from room service.

Looks like you are receiving several different answers.......

Depends on what bar you are drinking in........Martini Bar usually

has a mixture in a small carafe...sort of like a Wasabi mix.

People are mentioning Cellarmasters....I never drink in there.

In my opinion, it is very secluded and I enjoy the fun aspect of the

Martini and Molecular Bars:D....they are much more condusive to

interacting with other passengers and bartenters.

As Larry mentioned, there is the Sunset Bar which is all the way

aft, upstairs and the buffet is very closeby if you want some food

to go with your beverages.

But normally, no there are not sandwiches/appetizers served at

the bars on the ship.

I don't know if this will become a practice but on the infinity TA just completed, they used the drink coupons. Apparently some complained to the hotel manager about the lack of hors d'oevers so the third night they set up tables in the constellation lounge ( sky lounge on other ships) and put out cheese nc lauding Brie, bread/ bread sticks with olive spread, a platter of cold cuts and several platters of hors d'oevers including some egg rolls. It really was a nice spread...and they continued to do that for the rest of the cruise. The food was only put out for the 5-7 coupon period. The bar was open to all as was the food...you didn't have to be elite. I don't think they did this in any other venue.

On our last several cruises in lieu of the midnight buffet, which has been discontinued) wandering waiters would serve small bites (canape style snacks) from trays late night in the various public venues - bars, lounges, and casino.

Hi, when was your last cruise? Celebrity used to offer that but it was

stopped at least 3 or 4 years ago (if not longer) Just wondering because my last 1/2

dozen cruises there were no late night bites.

Hum, interesting. We were on Eclipse for New Years and did not have a tapas menu for an extra charge. We'll be on Equinox this year and as Cellar Masters is our favorite hangout for drinks it will be interesting to see what they now offer. Since we go for the wine, not the food, won't matter much one way or the other. :D

We were on the Eclipse after our Silhouette cruise and they did not have the Tapas not any extra cost food in the lounges (other than Caviar). So I'm not sure if this was unique to the Silhouette or just an experiment on their part. I never saw anyone ordering food there and were were in Cellarmasters a few nights.

They offer a wonderful display of cheeses on the buffet. I always stop in for a plate of cheese and fruit, then put it in the very top of my cabin cooler (it fits) and save it for afternoon wine and cocktails on the balcony.
