Tell me Your FAVORITE Carnival memory?

On my very first Carnival cruise, which was also my first solo cruise, way back in 2000, on the Sensation; I remember standing a the railing during sailaway, pondering whether I would go the dining room that night, or to the buffet. I really wanted to go the dining room, but was so nervous about travelling alone, and meeting people at the dinner table. Would I stick out like a sore thumb? being alone, and what on earth would I say to these strangers. But I knew that if I did not go the first night, I would likely eat at the buffet for the whole cruise. Very nervous and shy, I went down to the dining room for dinner, and found myself seated at a large table of other people very much like myself. I could not have picked a better group. Going do dinner was very much a daily highlight of my cruise. So, my best memory, was my initial nervousness, and then finding myself among a remarkable and very entertaining group of people who I still often think of and remember fondly.:)

My favorite cruise memory was stepping aboard the ship for the first time on my first cruise. There was something about getting onboard, and seeing the soaring atrium above my head and the ocean outside the windows, and just knowing that it's going to be a great cruise.

Your post gave me goosebumps! I cannot wait for our first cruise in April!

Ah, there are SOOOOO many, but the one that stands out that recently happened, was being asked to sing a "Command Performance" for the Captain of the Ecstasy. I sang for him, and several more of the staff, for about an hour. GREAT fun, and a real honor to be asked. ;)

How did it come about?

So my favorite is when we were dining in the steakhouse....

We are being all romantic and serious and all of a sudden this guy comes by the window and jumps down on the ground and starts doing pushups. Then he gets up and lights a cigarette. We are already laughing at this point because he is looking into the reflection of the windows and cannot see us, but we can see him. After a few drags he tries to throw the cigarette overboard and it just gets blown right back on the ship. At this point me, DH and the waitress are all laughing so hard we can hardly breathe. He then proceeds to chase his cigarette in front of our window and down the deck.:eek:

Now tell me yours!!

Thank you for starting this thread.

I get to relive all my Carnival memories:)

Have actually gone back through my pics and journals, so hard to choose the Best but a fun exercise!!

Cruising the Liberty with my (then 79 year old) mom....trying to keep up her during our late night excursions (and donations) to the casino...watching her peep at the ocean from the safety of the room (the only time she would actually stand on the balcony was when the ship was docked)...watching her dance with this random guy in Puerto Rico....

On last year's Breeze cruise: relaxing on our cove balcony....standing under the water dump bucket (several times) in WaterWorks....watching my husband puff up with pride after he completed the rope course...I'm sure there are so many that I'm forgetting but every memory was a good one. Now if only I could convince mom (and dad, too) to cruise with us next year....

Well there are a few, but I guess I better put the family-friendly version on here so I don't get myself in trouble ;)

It was our first cruise on the Conquest. We got married in Jamaica on the ship, and the next stop was Cozumel. My 2 boys who were 7 and 5 were with. While snorkeling in Cozumel, a Hawksbill turtle came right up to me and looked me in the eye. We stared at each other for about a minute. I instantly fell in love with turtles. It was an awesome experience!

The next day DH took both DS to the gift shop on the ship and bought me one of those glass turtles with the 2 baby ones inside. My older son gave it to me and said "This is for you. It's a Mommy Turtle which is you with her baby turtles which is us." It was the sweetest thing ever and I will never forget it!

It touched me so much that a few years ago I got a Mommy turtle and 2 baby turtles tattoo. Now they will always be with me :)

...our first sailaway. We put together a playlist of awesome music that was "ocean inspired", cracked open a bottle of wine on our balcony and had goosebumps of joy when we pulled away from the port. The whole voyage was ahead of us and it was pure bliss!!

Some songs were: edge of the ocean by Ivy, as the rush comes by motorcycle boy and walk on the ocean by toad the wet sprocket.ImageUploadedByForums1384653353.630553.jpg.2c02af9d1a227f63b3cb6f1d39acd85a.jpg

Everything!

Two specifics, though (other than hanging with my DH on the water), are:

Beating all the men at the final table during the Blackjack tourney on the Ecstasy in Nov., 2012

-----------and------------

Being asked to sing with the Motown Band during a sea day on the Inspiration in September.

So many more...

I have two favorites, and I'll post in the order they happened.

My first favorite was my very first cruise. I had never even seen a cruise ship in person, much less stepped on one. So when we arrived and I stepped foot on the ship, I could not believe how HUGE it was! Despite all my travel partners trying to prep me for what to expect, I was so overwhelmed at the massive size of the ship and that is was basically a floating city. It was just so overwhelmingly large!

It was the Carnival Holiday. :D

My second favorite memory is on the last sea day (last full day) of our 6 day cruise on Carnival Freedom. DD and I had done a 7 day cruise back in 2010 and she had complained that 7 days was just too long to be on a ship. I personally think two weeks on a ship would not be enough, but I digress. So we spent the next couple of years cruising 4 and 5 day itineraries. On the last day of our 6 day cruise, we were lying in the sun and she said she wished we had at least one more day on the ship. Melted my heart. I already had another 4 day scheduled and paid for, but the next cruise I booked after her comment was our 8 day repositioning cruise on Victory. During that cruise, she said she didn't think 8 days was enough. It was so nice of her to FINALLY come around to my way of thinking. :D

there are SOOOOO many!! I think my top 2 (because I cant decide)

1. on the victory in 2002 it was my parents, brother, grandparents and myself at dinner at the table (only our table, no others were with us) we all ordered and thought it would be funny if we switched places on our waiter. He came back with our food and noticed we all swapped, (he laughed) HOWEVER...he DID remember what each of us ordered!

2. taking my cousin this past may on his first cruise on the fascination and watching him as we walked around, the look on his face was priceless and he LOVED every second of that cruise (he is still talking about the fried chicken from the mdr, that was his favorite)

While nothing compares to that feeling you get when you enter the atrium for the first time during boarding...

On our Imagination cruise during our last night at dinner, our head waiter, Tómas, presented us with a watercolor painting of the ship. He pointed to a small porthole window near the waterline in the picture and said "This is my house". He then motioned to the rest of the ship and said "This is my yacht". My wife and I still laugh about that moment.

On our first B2B on the Breeze we were traveling with our then 5 yr old granddaughter. Out waitstaff fell in love with her and she with them. On the last night of our cruise they brought her little gifts. She cried and cried when she had to say goodbye to them. She still talks about them and still cries when she watches the video of them singing.

I know it may seem odd that my favorite memory is a bit sad for her but it shows us how meaningful the staff can be and how wonderful they are.

  • 2 weeks later...

Not quoting my last run on sentence entry..

Narrowed down to make sense..LOL..sometimes this is just a dream place and need to not dream on the keys as much...so tying again..here are my cruise best memories on Carnival...as solo cruiser...

Sitting at dining room table, 12 top... with a core of regulars and floating parties made the 4 evenings of dining and conversation on my Paradise cruise just the best, June 2009...

Each and every cruise I have thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience with people..that spoiled feeling..all the better when food is good!!

And partaking in the spa..meeting a neat woman my age and sitting in a deep window ledge in ladies locker area, overlooking the sea, in our puffy robes and towels watching the water and soaking up the rest and our treatments having a surprise wonderful talk...something lots of ladies are good at. This made the chilly weather ok....an inside cabin ok..and the cruise just perfect..finding my own quieter spots and activities...enjoyed a movie and the shows and Karaoke too when I wanted to step it up..was a wonderful time..Sarah

PS..hoping to keep thread alive on Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend...Sarah

I guess this is about the funniest memory we have of our last cruise. I bought a lacy bustier, bikini panties & stockings to wear under my formal gown. After dinner we only had about 5 minutes to get to the comedy club, as I was walking briskly to the club the underwear kept creeping down. I told my husband that if I did not remove the underwear they would fall to my feet, but we did not have time to return to our cabin. Just then we were passing the elevators and I grabbed him & pulled him inside. I said that as soon as the doors closed I would pull up my dress & he had to remove the panties. He was freaked. I told him he had no time to think about it & he had to just do it before the door opened again. Needless to say, our friends that cruised with us had a ball with the story & it made it way back to home before we did.

Cruises with family, DW and our 3 boys plus my sister, niece, and nephew. Spending time together laughing. The memories we have created. We have another booked. It will be to celebrate high school graduations for my oldest and my nephew. The reality that these opportunities will become harder to come by is making very sad.

I am so thankful that our family discovered our love of cruising.

One of my fav memories is my friend getting on board at the welcome aboard show. He's a hoot and half so he def had everyone cracking up. We always were cracking up and laughing at dinner bc everyone is characters. The best memory was sitting on the lido deck playing a drinking game late at night. At one time we had a grip of people around us watching us play. It was a really fun trip with many memories.

My favorite Carnival memory was last year when we were on the Conquest. It was my husband's 65th birthday so as a surprise, I sent the Cruise Director a picture of my DH and a note to please show the picture and tell everyone to wish him happy birthday on the day of his birthday which was 3 days into the cruise. Gary showed the picture on the first day and read the note for the first time on the air. When he got to the part about waiting for his birthday he said oops then kept apologizing. I didn't have a problem with it. He then said it would be David's birthday for the whole cruise and showed his picture every sea day. People were telling him happy birthday and Gary sent us little gifts every day. It was awesome. My DH said it was his favorite birthday and cruise. :D

Fantasy 1998,. walked up to check-in. The young lady said Oh, I'm sorry there seems to be an issue with your OV cabin, give me one second please. DW and I look at each other and that, here we go look in both our faces. She tells us that there is a maintenance problem with the room and it will not be ready for this sailing. We're going to move you to stateroom V2. Me not knowing the room numbers I ask, is that an oceanview also. She said no its a Suite. I just said thank you. We got on the ship went to our new room, opened the door, walked in, closed the door and we both proceeded to high five each other and do the longest happy dance in history :D. It did take a couple of phone calls to get our luggage but, HEY!!! a suite. Nice recovery Carnival.:D

:) I thought the same thing! Our first cruise was on The Holiday in Jan 2002! It was SO BIG! :D It was the first time I had ever been away from our kids for more than 24 hours, and I thought I would die! Of course as soon as the ship sailed away, all kid thoughts sailed away too. Great little Ship!

My favorite (of the many) memory was from the Victory in 2011. We were on a large extended family cruise. Sitting on the chair on Coki Beach I was watching my daughter swimming in the ocean with my mom. Neither was swimming of course, because neither likes to swim or get thier hair wet, but there they were standing in the water enjoying the sun, sand and water. Priceless. Mom did trip and fall and thus got her head under the water, but she laughed it off, and I know it is a precious memory for her too.

Thanks to the OP for starting this post, it's blizzarding outside but the heart is warm on the inside, more so reading these!
