Guest in the Diamond lounge..WAIT DONT YELL

Recommended Posts

live-in partner, girlfriend, but not wife, but we are domestic partners and do not plan on getting married anytime soon..might change in the future but were happy like this for now.

In diamond. She's gold. Cain bring her? Or can I call up royal and have her linked to my account as diamond?

Just a question, don't flame. If rules are rules, I'm happy to ablidge.

My friend (Platinum) and myself (diamond) are leaving our husbands at home and celebrating our 60 years of friendship. I thought she could not go into the diamond lounge with me. It would be good if she could, but how do you do that? Just asking as I thought I would not go at all because she couldn't.

From the C&A section of RCI's web page:

A Crown & Anchor Society member can be added into a relationship with other family members in the same household and receive equivalent tier status; however Cruise Points will remain according to actual cruises taken and calculated using the Program level accrual system described above...

For all tiers except Pinnacle Club, a relationship is defined as a spouse or significant other and children less than 18 years old. For Pinnacle Club a relationship is considered a spouse and/or significant other.

What I can't find is how to actual link her to have your status...

it is best to link her to your account, I did this with my partner, she will show the same status as you, but will still earn points on her own, you can link one adult to your account at a time, and numerous children under 18 (maybe 21) ...

I have seen where they look at everyone's cards and I have seen where they just look at one persons cards.... but if you link her you both will get the perks....

I linked my partner after we met, and that was on her first cruise, so she really liked the perks...:D

Different situation:

Diamond Lounge is an exclusive benefit for only Diamond, Diamond Plus and Pinnacle Club members and cannot be extended to include friends and family.

A spouse or significant other can be linked to have the same status, and if Diamond or above, would have access.

At least that's my humble Emerald read of the rules...

in this case no your friend may NOT use the lounge as she is not entitled to it by her status nor is she a member of your household. does not matter if you are sharing a cabin.

all you can do is ASK the concierge. if the cruise is stacked with many D and D+ cruisers be prepared to be told she cannot join you. I have been on cruises.. same ship same Concierge when one it was permitted and another he refused to allow it.

You can take her in, as long as they are with you. We take our grown daughter in with us all the time. Of course they have to know the secret handshake......only kidding...lol.

And people wonder why the lounges are so crowded. With all due respect, but if you are "all" not in a full suite or your daughter is not a Diamond Member then you are really breaking the rules by letting her join you in the lounge.:(

Thanks. I was convinced she could not and so was she. Oops we then got the premium package just in case we "needed a drink." God bless the guys for letting us celebrate our wonderful relationship.

And perhaps one of the reasons that rumors are running rampant about changes coming..This is so sad for those of us that have been so loyal to Royal and have earned these perks ...The possibility of the many D level cruisers being denied full 24 hour access to the DL is extremely unfair...Luckily I just made D+ but many loyal family members are still just D level....Hoping RCI rethinks any moves they might be considering. :(

I may get "flamed" for this comment, but therein lies the problem. The concierge should get on the same page. It should be no across the board unless you have earned the right to the club(s). I was on Freedom in September, and the concierge at the Diamond club was not allowing anyone in that was not Diamond or above. (I don't know if it included people who were members of the same household that were different statuses) An older couple (maybe mid 60's) were knocking on the Diamond club door and was let in by someone, only to be escorted right back out (less than 30 second later) by the concierge. I was sitting in the Viking Crown Lounge with my friend from work and witnessed it. I explained to her about the Diamond status and on the first night (since it was her first cruise) I didn't use the lounge. The rest of the trip I did because she was a little more comfortable at a bar of her choosing (Schooner Bar).

Update ... I called royal today to make full payment and she, not me, noticed our address is the same and asked me of id like to have her diamond as well!!

So..she is diamond, but in name only, as she still has only 4 credits. But her card will have diamond status on it.

Again, for the record, the GREAT Representitive at Royal named Vivian offered this herself, I did not ask.

This is definitely one of those things that varies from ship to ship and concierge to concierge. I would assume that the concierge makes their decision based on the number of Diamond (+) guests on board.

I would never ask because I always try to abide by the spirit of the rules but on one of our last trips we were traveling with friends who were only Gold members at the time. When we checked in at the pier, the concierge came out to pick us up in a golf cart and from that point on, the rest of the trip he treated our friends like they were D+ guests. He told them to come to the lounge each night and they did...in fact they spent more time in there than we did since we don't drink. He couldn’t have been nicer to our friends. Then there have been other trips where no one was allowed in unless they had the right card.

Regardless of how well my friends have been treated in the past, I also think that RCI needs to get on the same page regarding this and stick to the rules, whatever they may be

Enjoy the benefits of the lounge; you are well within the rules of the program. You and your significant other now have a great amenity to look forward to.

The new Diamond host Carlington seemed to care less about who enterednthe Diamond area. Because of the number of Diamond on the 11/11 sailing, a large area in the Viking Lounge was roped off, on all 4 nights Carlington spent his time in the Diamond Lounge and never came downstairs. People got off the elevator and ordered drinks. People were taking drinks to go and others were laughing at how they were beating the system. Abuse like this will cause this perk to be curtailed. We loved the host on our May sailing and think Mr. Berry needs to shape up or ship out. Make people show their sea pass card?

That is absolutely what should have happened and now you can enjoy this benefit together. Have a great cruise!

an oldie but a goodie :D

I'm Platinum and will be cruising in January with a D+ friend. I have NO desire to break the rules and go to the CL with her. All I can hope for is that maybe she can sneak out a chocolate covered strawberry from time to time :p :D

"Picked up in a golf cart at the pier upon checkin"...What were the circumstances of this ....We've stayed several times in RFS's and never had this done.

Fortunately it has nothing to do with mobility issues. I assume it was based on the category of cabin booked but the only place we have encountered this was on cruises out of Bayonne, all the others were "walkable" boardings.

It might vary by concierge, that it was NOT TRUE, at least for us. My adult daughter (D) was my cabin mate on an Enchantment cruise and she was denied access with me into the CL. It was the only time I’ve ever asked to bring in a cabin mate, and not only was she denied, the concierge made sure the denial was loud enough for everyone in the lounge to hear. I can only hope that he enforces all the rules the same for every passenger. The ship has a nice DL, so we spent our time there

As for a domestic partner, I believe that as long as they are members of C&A ( have cruised at least once), you can call RCCL and link them to your account.

Enjoy

M
