We Go Cruise Brah Posted November 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 25, 2013 Our boarding day is Thursday and the ship spends a day in port, leaving on Friday. Are we able to get off the ship once we get on, or is that not recommended?
Rare Keith1010 Posted November 25, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 25, 2013 Sure you can get off the ship. Keith
Rare cruisestitch Posted November 25, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 25, 2013 Do you mean, can you board on Thursday and then leave the ship that same day to explore the city? Yes, you can. There may even be shore excursions that first day as an option for you.
We Go Cruise Brah Posted November 25, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted November 25, 2013 Thank you, we were just wondering if its an arduous process to get back on the ship, or if its much simpler after you are checked in already. Is there a certain time you have to be back on the ship or are you able to get back on until the ship leaves port? We are cruising newbies and we leave in two days! Rare Keith1010 Posted November 25, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 25, 2013 If you are docked, you can get off and on as much as you want and you could come back as late as you would like. Keith

fishycomics Posted November 25, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 25, 2013 As we are all critics here , in each and our own way. I just anted to say. You can not come and go as you please, and late as you want. You will miss your ship, You can come and go as you please, as long as you are back by the time the ship states ports departure , for example, ship will leave at 6PM all aboard at 5:30PM, be back at 5PM. unless you plan to miss the ship. you have to check through security and sometimes the Dock is pretty long, unless a ride is there.. You are onboard and on your cruise, and can leave the ship if docked with no tender, with ease. If the ship is anchored, and a tender you'll have to register (sales or free) for a ticket, to leave as you please. So there are many answers we all can give you, and the best answer will be found when you are on your cruise, get off the ship, and go have fun, that was why you purchased a floating room to wake up the next day in a new place to explore, not be prisoner onboard. ;)
Rare Keith1010 Posted November 25, 2013 #10 Share Posted November 25, 2013 If the ship is beginning with an overnight, and is docked, you really can go off as late as you want. :) Yes, obviously you have to eventually get back on ( by the time the ship is leaving the next day) but don't really think that is what the original poster was thinking. :D Keith
Lsimon Posted November 25, 2013 #11 Share Posted November 25, 2013 (edited) Our boarding day is Thursday and the ship spends a day in port, leaving on Friday. Are we able to get off the ship once we get on, or is that not recommended? You're particular cruise, Solstice sailing Nov 28, stays overnight at it's embarkation port and does not leave until the following evening, Nov-29. at 6:30PM. In this situation, after you are checked in and board the ship on Nov. 28 you should be able to come and go as you please until the "back on board" time on November 29. However there might be limitations based on that particular port as to how late on the 28th you can re-board but in most similar cases you can come and go anytime overnight just like a hotel. If there are any limitations you'll be informed and if anything is unclear to you after you board just ask at guest relations or at the gangway off the ship. At most ports of call the back on board time for Celebrity ships is 1/2 hour before the stated sailing time but in any event it is always posted on the daily program distributed the night before and on a sign by the gangway. But in your situation on Nov. 29th when you are first leaving the embarkation port you'll have to back on further in advance of the sailing time. This is because the ships are required to have a muster drill (drill on emergency procedures) before setting sail from their port of embarkation. The exact time you must be back on board will be given to you at check-in and will also be printed on the daily program for the 29th which you'll receive in your stateroom the evening of the 28th. ariawoman Posted November 25, 2013 #12 Share Posted November 25, 2013 Couldn't there also potentially be limitations based on the lifeboat drill (as for when their all aboard time will be that is). I'd think they might have an earlier all aboard the following day than 530-6 because they'll want to get lifeboat drill completed before leaving the pier. That said, definitely check with the schedule and see when lifeboat drill will be, then go off an enjoy with that knowledge in mind. Enjoy your cruise!
