What is earliest departure time from Barcelona you have made?

Equinox arrives at 6am can you make 0920 am departure time? Any tips in booking flights. Time frame has just came out for booking. Is it better to book now or better prices later? Cruise is not until Oct 14?

I usually am the one to say go ahead and book early flight...not sure about this one though.

 

If all goes perfect you could/should make it, but there are a lot of factors.

 

I think if you are first off the ship (self disembark) you could easily be at airport by 730, which should be enough time.

 

There will be plenty of taxis at the port, and the drive should be about 1/2 hour.

One other thing to consider, and not sure if it applies to you, but if you want to claim back the VAT on any purchases that you make, you will need time to line up at Customs to get your refund invoices stamped.

Way too early given traffic to airport and a 3 hour airport arrival time unless your Business or First class which have smaller airport arrival times.

I, personally, would not want to ruin a great vacation by stressing our over making a flight that early. If the ship is late to port, or clearance takes longer than usual, or traffic is bad, etc., there are just too many things that could go wrong to make a flight reservation that early.

We carried our own luggage off a Carnival cruise last year at 6:30am. Grabbed a cab and was at the airport by 7:00. It is a very easy trip. Some folks are too conservative on these issues but do what is comfortable for you.

If you do decide to go for it, IMO it's rather tight, make sure you have a car lined up etc as you have absolutely no room for any issue that could arise

We did this in Oct. Off the ship at 7:30am and at the airport at 8am. Plenty of time before our 10:30am flight on BA.

We had a 10AM flight with a 6AM arrival on a Monday morning. We walked ourselves off (turns out we could have even gotten off a bit early if we had known we had already been cleared) and were at the airport and through customs by 7:30AM. That was even with a few hiccups--AA's automatic checkin machines were acting up, and the desk agent had some trouble printing the right tags for our checked luggage.

 

Of course something could have gone really wrong--problem disembarking, traffic, customs issues, etc. Another hour or so would certainly make things more comfortable, but I should point out that this flight was booked through Choice Air, so Celebrity felt it was a reasonable time.

A lot depends on the day of the week.Weekends are a lot quieter for traffic and at that time of the morning tons of taxis.

Way too close-just because it arrives @___doesn't mean you will be able to dis-embark that early- everyone on the ship has to be cleared. After you are cleared and are able to actually get off the ship you need transport to the airport, time to go through security etc.

We booked flight early and the prices never changed. We spent the night after getting off the ship because the flights home were around 10:00 am. We were happy that we did because we had problems getting a taxi back to the hotel. The lines were really long. We sailed around that time of the year. Hotel prices were more expensive pre-cruise, due to the Columbus Celebrations.

Thanks everyone I will look for later flight. We fly out of Chicago. The problem I was having is so many return flights had a overnight in layover city.

We did self disembark and got off at 6:45 (a 6 am arrival and we could have gotten off at about 6:25 had we hurried.) There were plenty of taxis and not too many people getting off at that hour. We made it to the airport in less than half hour and had plenty of time at the airport. You probably could make it IF everything goes right!

You may want to look into Aer Lingus. They fly BCN to Dublin 10:50am and have a flight from DUB to ORD leaving around 3 pm arriving at 6 pm but not sure if it is daily. We flew this last year and are doing same next May. No problems.
