Elite Plus benefits question

Celebrity's web site reads that elite plus gets complimentary cappuccino, latte and espresso. I emailed Captain's Club asking when, where on the ship and how often I could get these drinks. I have received no answer to this question from Celebrity. So I am wondering if anyone here knows the answer to my question. I am curious.

You can get them at Al Bacio,oMdr, Blu, Specialty Restaurants. Really anywhere. Just show you Seapass card. DW really used the benefit.

Problem i have with the elite + package is some of the benefits,free specialty drinks,free wines.and happy hours i already enjoy by purchasing the premium drinks package.

i realize I could pass on the drink passage and supplement my benefits buying drinks a la carte,but I like the convenience if not having to sign all the time.

Maybe after a time Celebrity could discount the drink packages a few dollars a day for elite + members.

Someone on another thread who's an Elite Plus member who traveled very recently (after the Elite + perks had gone into effect) said the complimentary cappuccino, latte and espresso comes in the form a coupon on the sheet of coupons left in your stateroom on embarkation day. At first he was concerned it was a one-time only perk, but later on found it's unlimited throughout the cruise.

Does the 10% coupon give you a credit if you prepurchase the drinks package, or is it only for onboard purchase (which costs more)?

 

I picked up my morning latte at the bar at the entrance of the Oceanview (got off Silhouette today - big sigh) as I went in for breakfast. Very convenient. BTW, Elite Plus is printed on your seapass card.

There. Is indeed a coupon, but it is not needed. The perk is unlimited and you just show your Seapass card. Might also enjoy the extra internet minutes and additional aw hand fold coupons. Remember, the coffee benefit only includes standard cappuccinos, lattes and expresses. At least one person was unclean about this and complained to the CC Hostess that she was charged for a "expression based" drink.

Orator: Were you able to also order pots of Tea Forte at the Cafe al Bacio as part of the Elite+ coffee benefit? We actually drink both lattes and Tea Forte, but I am still curious.

Just got off Reflection. Since the Elite + perk is new, there was some confusion among some of the staff.

 

There is one coupon on the sheet that offers a free cappuccino or latte. Nothing about espresso. Since I don't take condiments with my coffee, I went down to Café al Bacio the first morning to check it out and ordered a double cappuccino and asked him to "hold the milk." They were confused at first, but rang it up as a Loyalty Coffee, and I wasn't charged for it.

 

Later, I asked the Captain's Club Hostess who told me it was for unlimited cappuccino/latte/espresso. I once actually got charged for the espresso on day 5 or 6 by a new staff member at the Café. I did get the charge reversed at Guest Relations, but the clerk down there had to check in on the new perk herself.

 

Just give them a few more weeks to work out the kinks, but make sure you tell the staff member when you show your seapass that your coffee is a no charge loyalty Coffee.

Just off the Summit sailing of Dec 7th and tried to use the Elite Plus coupon for a café mocha in Café al Bacio. They would not accept it and advised me specifically and sternly that it was for "Cappuccinos and lattes only". Even after I pointed out that it was the exact same price and that the larger print states only "Free Specialty Coffee" they still would not budge. Not that big a deal to me but I was a little irritated.

It's hard to believe they could come up with something that ridiculous...

Very disappointed as one who cannot drink things with milk in them. I've heard Americanos are not covered, but they will be cheaper to make than cappuccinos. Wish they just said all Al Bacio items costing up to xxxx are covered.

 

And for some Brits they might argue not covering tea is a national insult :)

 

Ps I know it's a perk and I'm not entitled to anything....just saying

I do like an early morning cuppa.

I tried to have a kettle put in my room on Eclipse 14 night Southern Caribbean, in March '13.

 

I was told they were packed up in Miami & wouldn't come out until the TA.

Eventually I was called by the Customer Services Manager ( from Birmingham)

He told me that Americans don't want kettles ( they are put in the room when she sails from Southampton)

My answer, ' Well, there are 605 passengers from UK on this sailing'.

A kettle appeared in my cabin!

IMO it is far safer, than carrying hot drinks from the Ocean View cafe, via lifts, which I also saw.

It actually states in black and white on Celebrity's web site that in the list of perks for Elite Plus "complimentary cappuccino, latte and espresso". I simply don't understand when someone wants anything else other than those three items and they get irritated when they cannot get it free. As soon as someone gets some other coffee drink for free, it will be posted here on Cruise Critic and then everyone will be demanding the same drink for free. Right?

We are elite plus and are very grateful for any perks that we get.

I am not irritated, in my case I am just surprised that it is the more expensive items that are free and the cheaper ones to the cruiseline that are charged. No doubt it is a revenue maximiser in some model

Using your logic, why not demand a free Coke every 5 minutes or so? After all, it's much less expensive than a double espresso. :confused:

 

We seem to be turning into an entitlement mentality -- I WANT IT NOW, AND I WANT IT FOR FREE!!!

 

Of the entire sheet of coupons, I maybe use the Internet, the Laundry/Dry Cleaning, the Cappuccino, and the Gelato. I guess I should start complaining because I don't use the Bingo or the Casino coupon? :rolleyes:

 

I am thankful for what they give me, and the fact that I don't have to sail on Carnival. :eek:

I am the furthest thing from having an "I WANT IT NOW, AND I WANT IT FOR FREE" mentality. I am incredibly happy with the benefits they offer and thankful for each of them. My irritation comes from hearing on these boards and also around the ship during my sailing that there was "unlimited specialty coffees". I was surprised to see the coupon for one coffee on board but didn't really care much as in reality, I only enjoy a café mocha on rare occasions as a treat, so it didn't even make much difference for me. I am just confused as to why they make the decisions they do....a latte, a mocha...same price, same effort to make, I just don't get it. It's like giving a laundry coupon and saying, sorry, no t-shirts.

 

Feeling irritated by this shouldn't automatically put one into an 'entitlement' category who wants everything for free. Can't anyone be annoyed by something anymore without immediately being labeled as greedy and self-entitled?

I think you are being a little unreasonable here - frequency was never mentioned in my post.

 

I think it is perfectly valid to be happy with the offering whilst highlighting some inconsistencies in application. I always understood these boards were about feeding back where improvement might be considered (note the word is not made) from the passenger perspective. There may be a perfectly logical reason why a cheaper related product (your example was from a different product range) is not within a package in which case the cruise line should perhaps consider explaining that reason to guests otherwise there is a perception based on the track record of this cruiseline that it is an oversight at present

I fully agree - it IS a very nice perk to have but just pointing out the inconsistencies doesn't make us greedy per se! As my husband simply can't stand milk foam on his coffee and always orders an Americano we'll have the strange effect that he will have to pay for his coffee whereas I can order my latte for free. Perhaps he can have a "latte without the milk" or an "espresso with hot water by the side" ?? :cool:

Well - the easiest way to evade all this is to take a beverage package again. By the way ( sorry to enlarge the topic!): does anybody know if the 10% reduction will be taken off the reduced online price when ordered online and before the cruise - which would make it a 20% discount compared to the regular prices onboard ? Maybe I'm a bit dumb but I didn't fully understand the wording on Celebrity's homepage...

Why are coupons still used? Why not just have it encoded on your SeaPass like RCI does it? Your card has your status Elite +, so when your card is passed through the reader you should not be charged for that free-bee.
