FinallyCruisinIn2014 Posted December 27, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 27, 2013 All 4 of ours arrived in less than two weeks and that included Thanksgiving week in there (thinking the gov. probably worked a short week that week). Would I have counted on that? No way. The official time frame is 4-6 weeks.
paul929207 Posted December 27, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 27, 2013 Assuming you got a US passport, the Department of State has been keeping up with the requests. They are more likely to fall a little behind late winter/spring when they get requests from people vacationing overseas.

Rare Keith1010 Posted December 27, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 27, 2013 According to the State Department the current interval is 4 to 6 weeks but keep in mind we are now in the Holiday Season. Keith

OCruisers Posted December 27, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 27, 2013 Ours were renewals and they were back in about two weeks. I'd do his as soon as possible because we can never but absolutely sure of how long it might take. LuLu ~~~~

TruckerDave Posted December 27, 2013 #9 Share Posted December 27, 2013 When I renew mine I always pay for the rush processing and I also pay for the over night shipping so I can track it both ways. Sent using a small piece of fruit.
rjgdjg Posted December 28, 2013 #10 Share Posted December 28, 2013 It took me two weeks to get mine. I would pay extra (it's only a little amount) to have it sent to you overnight. Fyi, if you're only two weeks away from the trip, they'll let you pay more to expedite it. But, if you're four weeks away and send in your application now, you should be okay. - Diana, http://musingaboutcruising.blogspot.com
jsmeeker Posted December 28, 2013 #11 Share Posted December 28, 2013 3 to 4 weeks seems to be reasonable amount of time to expect to wait for one these days. If your cruise is over two months away, I think you would be fine. If under that, you may consider paying for the expedite, especially the closer your get to 4 weeks out. Krazy Kruizers Posted December 28, 2013 #12 Share Posted December 28, 2013 You were wise in getting your passport. Now your DH should get his done.

bunnyfoofoo82 Posted December 30, 2013 #14 Share Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) If your cruise is only a couple weeks away (not that the op mentioned that), you can go to a processing site and get it in a couple hours. Also, you can sign up for notifications via email with where it is in the process and what the tracking number from the USPS is. Ruthie The processing sites just fill out the forms for you and mail them, the same as doing it yourself I would not feel comfortable sharing all of my personal information online with just any website, and trusting the site to send correct information and/or the time it would take for a "second party" to correct anything the passport officials might not like. Fortunately, our P.O. has passport assistance - they checked ALL of our forms and documentation - mailed them for us, new passports arrived in 3 weeks. Beware, if your cruise is getting close, you DO have to include your ORIGINAL birth certificate with the application - our birth certs were returned/arrived about a week after our passports Edited January 4, 2014 by SMerritt
TruckinMama Posted January 9, 2014 #16 Share Posted January 9, 2014 My husband and I both got ours in February and March last year. They both took exactly 3 weeks. As long as you have 6-8 weeks, I'd say you shouldn't have any issues.
dwayneb236 Posted January 10, 2014 #17 Share Posted January 10, 2014 10 days for us and this was over thanksgiving holiday. Very quick and no expedite charges. Just lucky on our timing I guess.
Rare BlueRiband Posted January 10, 2014 #18 Share Posted January 10, 2014 Took about three weeks for my renewal. The old one had less than six months validity so I decided to renew now and be done with it for 10 years rather than wait.

They have them all over the country.
