Ricky Chan Posted January 1, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 1, 2014 I need to rebook our Jan, 2015 cruise itinerary from Western Caribbean to Eastern Caribbean. I like our cabin facing land if possible, when anchoring the ports. Any suggestion? Thanks in advance. Ricky
Clarea Posted January 1, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 1, 2014 (edited) Not possible to predict how the ship will dock. Oasis will likely dock on the starboard side (but not always), but whether that side faces land or not is variable. cb at sea Posted January 1, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 1, 2014 It's an either/or.....at one port, you might be facing land...at the next port, you're likely to be facing the harbor.....all the views are great, IMO! They do switch it up...either to do maintenance, lifeboat drills, or just to give everyone an equal shot at a "view"! We actually prefer to be away from land in port....more privacy on the balcony! roysmith99 Posted January 1, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 1, 2014 This is very much a gamble. We prefer port side for no other reason than its always on the left. I am not trying to be sarcastic, it's just what we do.
BND Posted January 1, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 1, 2014 We pretty almost always have starboard cabins and sometimes we're facing the pier and sometimes we're not. You just never know. Sometimes maintenance determines which side, other times, lifeboat drills, etc as previous poster said. We book the cabin that is mid-ship, not connecting and is in a convenient location for us, never trying to predict which side will be facing the port when we dock. DonnaK Posted January 1, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 1, 2014 Is this the cruise in your countdown clock on Allure? Allure usually docks with the starboard side facing the port, except for the occasional random week that they are doing maintenance and lifeboat testing on the other side of the ship, and then they will dock port side facing the port. Impossible to predict, but odds are in your favor that starboard will face land on Allure (or Oasis)

Blesswith4 Posted February 19, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 19, 2014 How do you know which side is starboard or port side on the oasis?
Shekim Posted February 19, 2014 #9 Share Posted February 19, 2014 How do you know which side is starboard or port side on the oasis? Port and starboard is the same on every ship/boat...facing forward port is left (both have 4 letters) and starboard is right.
