KNOT2L82SAIL Posted January 4, 2014 #201 Share Posted January 4, 2014 The Amsterdam looks so beautiful, all lit up the way she is. Yes, I would love to be a passenger on her right now. Oh well. I will look at the webcam and enjoy her beauty while I can. :)
ger_77 Posted January 4, 2014 #202 Share Posted January 4, 2014 I don't know the first thing about sailing a ship, but it must be a lot more difficult to navigate out of a berth in the dark than during daylight hours. Any sailors out there that can confirm/deny this? Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)

KNOT2L82SAIL Posted January 4, 2014 #205 Share Posted January 4, 2014 The condos made for a few good noises while the Indy sailed by, but I am thinking because it was after 6, no tooting. I think it would be awesome if the Amsterdam tooted when she leaves tonight, but I am sure there would be some fines imposed if she did. So I will just sit here on my sofa with my air horn and make the toots for her. :o

Love the beach Posted January 4, 2014 #208 Share Posted January 4, 2014 Darn...I missed it all...had to step out for awhile! Don't think I'll make it for Amsterdam...probably be "chair sleeping". Bon Voyage to mumsysailor and scrapnana...may you have a wonderful time!
aliaschief Posted January 4, 2014 Author #209 Share Posted January 4, 2014 To the best of our knowledge there is no ordinance decreeing no tooting after six or dusk. Maybe just courtesy or no live audience. If it was very foggy they sure would be tooting.
aliaschief Posted January 5, 2014 Author #210 Share Posted January 5, 2014 Can't even imagine what it would feel like if we were beginning a World Cruise. Anyone know why a 11:00 PM departure. I'm sure lots of extra stores to load. Any special events on embarkation day?
Rare Scrapnana Posted January 5, 2014 #211 Share Posted January 5, 2014 Sitting here, watching the lights twinkling on Amsterdam, I can almost feel the excitement of the passengers. For the passengers who do the world cruise year after year, it must be like coming home. For some of the first timers it is the culmination of years of wishing, planning, and saving. I hope all have the time of their lives!

gigianne Posted January 5, 2014 #216 Share Posted January 5, 2014 I think there are a few of us stalwarts still here - I am determined to see the Amsterdam leave at 23:00 hours. I know the sailaway party is ongoing until 23:30.
Rare Scrapnana Posted January 5, 2014 #217 Share Posted January 5, 2014 Was she always supposed to sail this late? I looked back to last year and she left on her world voyage at 6:30 local time.

KNOT2L82SAIL Posted January 5, 2014 #222 Share Posted January 5, 2014 She is still looking so beautiful docked there. Oh how I wish I could be on her for this grand adventure. But someday! I can feel the excitement and here I am on the other coast. LOL It looks like they have stopped all the exterior work that they were doing before I took a break. I would imagine that they want everything to be perfect before they leave. I just cannot fathom being gone until April. But I sure would like to give it a try. Rare rafinmd Posted January 5, 2014 #223 Share Posted January 5, 2014 (edited) Lights have started going out on bow of Amsterdam. (but we still need to get rid of that string of lights--DONE) It shouldn't be long now. Roy Edited January 5, 2014 by rafinmd DONE
KNOT2L82SAIL Posted January 5, 2014 #224 Share Posted January 5, 2014 More exterior lights are out! They are getting serious about leaving. I wonder if anyone will be outside waving to us. I will be here waving to them! ...and listening for just a little toot or two. Hey, I can hope! ;)
