Daily service charge not pre paid?

I can't speak for everyone but I like to pre-pay as much as I can before the cruise because it's one less thing to worry about and it keeps the final balance low. I lose nothing by pre-paying except maybe a little time to get the money back if for some reason I have to cancel the cruise.

I completely agree. I want to pay for as much as possible BEFORE getting on the ship so my tab at the end of the vacation is very low.

I'm with you I prepaid my service charges already and also bought myself $250 OBC and casino credits and spa credits because I'm a horrible saver.

Paid my cruise in full which was $400 for two people but a full total of $600. I thought the extra $200 was the daily service charge, but grom reading others posts I'm beginning to think it was not and I should expect the $120 service charge to be paid on board the ship? For a 5 night cruise it should be $120 for 2 of us.

Sorry, but YOU should look at your invoice and figure out what you paid for.

(it is rare, very rare in the U.S. that service charge would be on your pre sailing invoice)

Wrong, wrong, wrong. The DSC most certainly is the tip, gratuity, whatever wording you want to use for tip.

It is fully adjustable, thus the tip. A 'charge' would not be adjustable.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. As even you know, by their statement on the website NCL's service charge is adjustable in the case of service problems only. The fact that they do allow it to be even removed for cheap or ignorant people without actual reason goes along with the lines of not enforcing chair hogging rules - it doesn't change the underlying rules.

Absolutely incorrect. You DO NOT need to provide any reason to adjust the DSC. You keep spewing that false information simply because it furthers your agenda. A statement on the website is not official policy, merely a guideline. You post it as if it's law written in stone. It is not.

You haven't provided any references to back up your "fact". Until then..

OP as your thread has gone way off topic from your original question. Can you log into your myNCL portal? CLick on the tab Vacation Summary. Scroll down to the payments area and click on the orange box with a plus sign. It will show you your cruise fare, vacation add ons, excursions, etc. just above the total will be prepaid service charge with an amount.

Scroll down again to Pre-Pay Service Charges and click on the orange box with a plus sign again. Do you have a button that says pay charges? or is there a gray box that says Total Service charges paid. That will be how you can determine if you have a $120 expense still to be paid.

I never understood why people prepay their service charge. Why give NCL money before you have to?

I will usually pre-pay the DSC 2-3 weeks prior to the cruise. There are 3 of us in the cabin and the separate accounting for each individual each day makes the final bill difficult to read. By pre-paying I get a final statement that is much easier to read and find out if there are any mistakes. And to be honest, the amount of interest I lose on giving NCL $432 a month early is so negligable it does not even figure into my calculation. :p

I have worked and owned a hair salon, where a tip was given for good service -- as a owner I would never have ask a customer to pre pay -- a tip or service charge -- for such a service they have yet to received

As a person who was tipped for such services / I now how to tip.

For some of you here who desired to call me names -- shame on you !

I always thought C C was a nice place to exchange info ---

Pre-paying is an option, it is not a requirement. You may certainly wait until you are onboard if you wish.
