Can I help with any Malaga info?

Thanks Marazul for the information. Our ship arrives 8:30am in the port. The current train schedule which does not go out as far as September, only reflects trains to Cordoba at 9am or 11am. Hopefully there are more trains in the summertime so that we could catch a train about 10am.

It depends on the day of the week.  Try a few dates.  There are three kinds of train: AVE, AVANT and AV City.

I pulled this for Jan. 31.

Sorry, the search didn't transfer.

Go to https://venta.renfe.com/

In "ORIGEN" enter MALAGA  and pick MALAGA MARIA ZAMBRANO

In DESTINO enter CORDOBA

In FECHA pick the same date for both SALIDA and REGRESO

Click on COMPRAR

Once you are on the search results page, you can change the dates (FECHA) at the top of the page.  Most dates show trains at 9:00. 9:10, 9:45 and 11:02.  Sundays seem to omit the 9:45.   For the return, you have 16:17, 16:19, and the latest you can take back for your ship at 18:19.

Round trip prices are 33 euros on the AVE and 23 euros on the AVANT.

The schedule will be very similar for future months.

Campolady,

Thank you for all of the helpful information n this thread!  I read the notes about Sunday.  My ship will be arriving in Malaga on Easter Sunday, which will likely limit options.   It would be lovely to go to church in Malaga for Easter; I assume the churches will be crowded and dress more formal than in the U.S.

Any comments on what to expect in Malaga that day or recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Updated to add -  Based on my online research, it looks like Easter Sunday and the rest of Holy Week are an amazing time to be in Malaga and see the processions. The city will also be extremely crowded - any advice on where to go to see the processions - and what to keep in mind (i.e., crowds, traffic, any options for dining, restrooms....?)

The processions tend to be late afternoon/early evening, so difficult to see on a port call day. (On thursday/friday there may be some earlier processions).

There is usually a map showing the times and routes.  I will try to find it and post a link.

Last year we happened on one by pure chance around lunchtime on the Wednesday of Holy Week (Semana Santa).

The 'tribuna' mentioned in the schedule is the large viewing grandstand at the port end of Alameda Principal.

Wow,

Thank you for your generosity.  We will be staying the day there in November and we have mobility issues.  Group tours do not lend well to this and I wonder if you have ever heard of cruisers hiring a taxi for the day for a tour of some of the sights you mentioned?  Also, what would be a good taxi company and what would the pricing look like.

Once again thank you for your information.

So sorry for the late reply but I have only just seen your post.  There are several companies that can offer day tours either by taxi or rickshaw/tuk tuk.  Here is a link for a taxi company with tour details https://transfertaximalaga.com/en/tours-prices/ and here is one for rickshaw/tuk tuk tours (the advantage of these is that the vehicles can get into the narrow back streets where cars are sometimes inaccesible) https://www.malaga-rickshaw-tuktuk.com/ .  There are also horse and carriage rides available for shorter durations just to give you a taste of the city.

Hope this helps.  If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask,

Thank you so much! It looks like the processions start at 10 a.m. and run till 2:45 pm on Easter Sunday, so we'll definitely get to see a portion of it.

Hi CampoLady, I hope you can help. We live along the coast in Almeria and will be joining a cruise from Malaga on 22 March. We will be driving to the port. Do you know of any carparks available there? I have looked at 1-parking but there instructions re parking were quite confusing. They said the last gate by the lighthouse. We've always disembarked at Malaga but never joined a ship at this port, where is the Arrivals hall please? My husband will need  wheelchair assistance is this easily available for embarkation, as I know when disembarking there is a long walk to the outside world.....I realise you may not be able to provide the info, but if you could point me in the right direction it would be a great help
