leaveitallbehind Posted January 10, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 10, 2014 All of them, because when we're there, we're not at home! :D Of course there are some we like better than others but - just referring to the Caribbean / Bahamas / Bermuda - we've been fortunate to have been to many ports of call and like something about each one. But I guess Bermuda certainly is one of our favorites and is completely different than the Caribbean islands. (As it is British, it is in some ways similar to Grand Cayman). We also like the fact that it is an extended stay port of call so there is plenty of time over the 2 - 3 days there (depending on itinerary) to really cover the ground. One of our favorite itineraries, however, was Panama and going through the locks. The ship was close enough to the side of the locks that we could reach out and touch them from the ship - which we did! But given the time I could point out things at all of them that we like - so, other than with my comments on Bermuda and the Panama Canal - I'm probably not going to be much help! Guess you'll just have to go to them all and find out for yourself! :)
obnurse Posted January 10, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 10, 2014 Curacao, Aruba, Bonaire, Barbados, St. Thomas, St. Marten......hey.......I think I love them ALL! If I had to pick I would say Curacao.
Rare puppycanducruise Posted January 10, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 10, 2014 I think my favourite port was St Petersburg Russia. I loved visiting the Hermitage. I also loved seeing the ancient city of Ephesus in Turkey. And Amsterdam is so beautiful, but then, so is Copenhagen and Vancouver and Aruba and so many more. It's hard to choose. Maybe I'll go back and study them some more.
OCruisers Posted January 10, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 10, 2014 I think my favourite port was St Petersburg Russia. I loved visiting the Hermitage. Probably it would be St. Petersburg Russia for me as well. Guess because I never thought I'd be allowed to go to Russia growing up, it was special. In the Caribbean, St. Maarten. Taxguy77 Posted January 11, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 11, 2014 Lima (Callao) , visited friends and family. Dubrovnic, beautiful old city, friendly people. Ireland, talk about friendly people! Venice, see it before it's underwater all the time. I stayed there over 50 years ago and revisited a few years ago. Wear old shoes if you don't know the tides. Yes, I've been to the Carribean and Bermuda, spoiled by too many tourists and too much commercialism. Please excuse spelling.

jocap Posted January 11, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 11, 2014 (edited) I usually answer with the ports of Venice, Santorini etc, but I did enjoy a boat trip to see the volcano on Martinique, and would be happy to do that again. I'd like to do a full day tour of Madeira to see the amazing views, and the next time in Belfast, I'll go to the Giant's Causeway; in Carthegena I will walk up to the Roman ruins; I also want to see more of Rhodes and Crete, instead of just pottering around the towns. One of my favourites is Vigo, but the last twice we've taken the ferry out to the islands- next time I'll take one across the estuary and explore there. biker@sea Posted January 11, 2014 #12 Share Posted January 11, 2014 Antiqua was the jumping off point for us. Our Helicopter tour over the ocean into the Live Volcano on Montserrat was tremendous . The see the capital city Plymouth Total destroyed by the eruption in 1995 was beyond belief . The suffer smell was very strong flying over the Exclusion Zone . Along with some thick smoke . Returning to Antiqua the three ships in port under us was a photo op for D.W. for sure .:D
