I believe the reason they stopped giving out the tender tickets to Elite pax was because if they were not using them they would pass them on to others. By producing the Elite Card at the tender embark point, there is less opportunity for people to do the wrong thing. Fair enough too, policy is policy.

We were on Dawn Princess 35 nights in October last year and couldn't

believe there was no cocktail party in Vista for Platinum and Elite, just a bun

fight in the atrium which we refused to go to. Half the time being Elite didn't

work for tenders and getting off in Broome was a nightmare, waited in one of

the dining rooms for nearly 2 hours to get off.

every cruise we've done they always have a cocktail night for elites and platinum, one cruise it was spread over 2 nights as there was too many people

we did that 35 night cruise around OZ last april and elites had to wait in Jammers and escorted to the tender at Lombok but we were on the tender just after 8am

As I said before on here, the Americans would not put up with it. We did Sun Princess circumnavigation of Australia in 2008, just after Sun Princess arrived in OZ. Broome stop was bad too, not enough buses to take the pax off, not enough transport infrastructure in some OZ ports.

It is wrong that Elite/Platinum members on the Australian Princess ships, Dawn/Sun/Sea are deprived of some of the Captains Circle benefits.

  • 1 year later...

I know they had the elite lounge earlier this year on the Princess Diamond as Husband and I were on the Ship this year on an Australian cruise .

On our first night we went exploring we hadn't as yet dressed for dinner , we found ourselves upstairs in what I think is the skywalkers lounge , the waiter offered us a drink of the day which I did not like the sound of and couldn't quite understand what he was meaning when I asked for what I wanted and he said yes ,ok mam but you will have to pay full price for it, and he checked both my husband and my cruise card .

I had a feeling that maybe something was going on I wasn't aware of but hubby was in his element going up helping himself to cheeses and biscuits thinking it was all part of travelling on a more upmarket line ...when he sat back down I said Honey I think we're not in Kansas anymore , have a feeling we've walked into something we are not meant to be part of.

Husband didn't believe me until after we had finished our drink and left to get ready for the evening we had to walk through an area that was cordoned off with big signs saying Platinum and Elite passengers only .... HAH he believed me then and told me we have to hurry up and become Elite

It was our first cruise on a Princess Ship although we had been on P&O cruises before , so we were Gold members (and turned Ruby on the cruise).

I qualify for Elite 8 days into a 46 day cruise. Don't think anything will happen though. Will keep the pinkies crossed. k

I will keep my fingers crossed for you as well. On a long cruise that has segments , they usually update after each segment. They did on the World Cruise. Your cruise is a long one so I am sure they will do something...lets hope so.:)

An Elite Lounge would be nice but not sweating on it. The other perks are already better than most of the other lines give for the equivalent number of sailings. We had access to the lounge on Holland America recently and all it got used for was a couple of free coffees and cakes. I didn't notice a Lounge on Diamond Princess, just the one hour session every arvo in the Skywalkers. But the laundry and priority embarkation are priceless.

Yeah ... on Diamond they only rope off one end of Skywalkers and depending on where you sit , anyone can walk around and access the food .

They must have been late roping it off when we stumbled on to it ... The rope wasn't there when we went in would have felt way too embarrassed and under dressed to gate crash anything on purpose . It was only there when we left...husband was Impressed with the different cheeses etc though [emoji4]

Has anyone sailed from Australia on the Golden Princess? If so, do you know if the Elite/ Suite/Platinum gathering was held please?

Golden hasn't sailed out of Australia yet.

First visit in September this year. :D

If you are Elite do you have to go to the Lounge First and presumably board with the next group to go down to the Tenders. This is what I did, but we were refused priority boarding cause there were 2A-1C apparently it's only for 2 people, is this correct?

I felt they could, have made allowances due to it being a X-NYC.

Maybe that's why they weren't.

Princess has an weird and discriminatory view that minors cannot have higher status. Even though their cruises are paid for, and when they turn 18 suddenly the status exists!

That may have been the cause, but if so it's offensive and discriminatory treatment to paying, loyal passengers.

Yes for a moment there I was upset, (under my :) I tend not to let these things

spoil what was yet another fantastic Princess Cruise.

with elites you normally stop at the top of the stairs on deck 5 and go down the steps when you can but you should be able to bring your child, i have seen elites bring their non elites friends in the elite lines so it depends who is in charge in letting the people joining the tenders

we only struck it once on one cruise where there was a lot of elites onboard and we had to meet in jammers and get escorted to the tender area by the CC host

also ....if you are elite, the priority tender tickets should be waiting in your stateroom when you embark.

they dont have tender tickets for elites now, you show your black card

Yea can't wait. Boarding October 30 for south pacific

I'll see you there. :) :)

I'm hoping, because I'm cruising with an Elite, some of the benefits rub off. :)

Last time with my cruisin buddy, I had to ask for tender tickets, as she doesn't disembark at any ports, to show her black card.
