I would like to hear any imput regarding the security lines for haven guests.

There are no different security lines for Haven guests. The port of Miami controls security. However, once past security Haven guests have their private lounge for check in followed by priority and escorted boarding.

Is this only for Haven guest or are all other suites ( i.e. penthouse) included in the VIP lounge perk?

Perhaps there is a VIP line in one terminal but not the other? Doesn't make sense but just trying to help the previous poster not feel crazy :D

I have definitely had a VIP security line on Carnival at the terminal next door.

Thanks for response.

Security moves fast with 2 lines. But once past security the Suite check in lounge is immediately to your left. They will have NCL crew there to meet you, check you in and escort you on the ship. While you are waiting to check in, there are chairs, water, juice, and some cookies while you wait.

The Epic has an amazing Haven and the Epic Club is one of the best perks at sea. Don't hesitate to ask the concierge to get you into the Blue Man early to get front row seats or to escort you off the ship in St Thomas. You are at the top of the ship and the elevators are full going down. The concierge can take you down their elevator with no wait!

Enjoy!!!!!!!!

Thanks again, this is our 1st time on the Epic, I see you have sailed twice. I hope we love it and can a repeat too.

I was going to agree with Michelle but after reading all the posts, maybe I'm wrong. But thought when the one line became 2 at the X-rays, left was for VIP. Maybe someone just called out VIP's over here to get us moving to the left line.

Just to clarify the consistency of 'Mud' - - -

Does NCL used the same berth/dock consistently so that all of the above

posters are seeing the same picture ?

Or does the Port of Miami vary which berths/docks are used by the many

cruise companies ?

Thus after routine screening * by the Miami Port Authorities - NCL takes over

and check-in of all the categories of staterooms and those with a priority

latitude status or a Suite get a designated line while all others check-in with the system.

* Routine screening by the Miami Port does a TSA type check for WMD and

other prohibited items - Does this include the Wine Corkage by NCL ?

As each person has had their credentials issued entry to the ship is permitted.

Does NCL take your photo ID for your stateroom key card at the time of check-in

or when first going on board ?

If the Miami Port does not conduct the Wine Corkage for NCL then is this done

when first boarding the ship ?

*****

Thus if NCL uses the same berth/dock facility everyone's picture perception

should be the same.

Some recent CC traveler could perhaps give us a step by step walk thru of

when and what to expect in the boarding process.

Please - Thanks !

Maybe that explains it. When we boarded, there was no one line leading to 2 at the X-rays. There was simply the 2 lines at the X-rays and the one on the left said VIP. Maybe that is why my perception was that there is a VIP security line. There most definitely was one at the X-rays. I am positive!

Yes' date=' NCL always uses the same two terminals (B and C) in POM - at least for longer cruises, haven't been on Sky so can't say anything about the terminal she uses. We have always boarded through terminal B (if that is the one on the right hand side) to Jewel class ships and terminal C was used for even decks on our Epic cruise (terminal B for odd decks).

Thus after routine screening * by the Miami Port Authorities - NCL takes over

and check-in of all the categories of staterooms and those with a priority

Corkage table should be there in close proximity of the scanners, there is no additional scanning done in Miami so that is the only place where they can catch the bottles in hand luggage.

Also, there is only a handful of actual NCL emplyees in the terminal, majority are staff of the port contractor.

Does NCL take your photo ID for your stateroom key card at the time of check-in

or when first going on board ?

The ID will be scanned (machine readable passports etc) or manually typed in to the system while completing the check-in, they also take the picture of you there so after that your keycard combined to the digital photo in their system is a photo ID.

I was also going to agree. We sailed the Sky last April and I could have sworn there was a sign on the left x - ray machine in security that said VIP. Of course we got there extremely early and it's possible that once the lines start getting longer they take the sign away and it becomes "general security" again? But I do remember a select few that got to use that line when the rest of us stayed in the line on the right...

I'll be in 8001, OS, three weeks from Monday so I will most certainly look for this wonderful sign LOL

I plan on getting to the pier at 10:30 am. How does this time sound? 10 any better?

Thanks.

I believe we got there around 10:30 and they didn't even have the doors open yet, so we had to stand outside for about 10 min before they let us in to start the check in process. We used the shuttle service from our hotel and were the 2nd ship at the port that they dropped off, so We didn't really have an option on when we got there... Enjoy your cruise!

Thanks!

10:30 it is.

We have never sailed in a "real" suite before so even hanging in the

VIP lounge will make me happy :)

Thanks.

Don't get too excited about the "lounge" at POM. It is a room with some seating and a large desk with 2 people checking people in. I believe there was a table with some goodies too, but really it is not a big deal. The part that is nice, is not having to wait to get on the ship. After they check you in (you are sitting down for this), you wait until the concierge or someone else brings the suite group to the ship. We did have to wait maybe 10 minutes to get on the ship after we finished checking in. We arrived at around 11:30.

That's good enough for me LOL Thanks.

I'm guessing it will be about the same for NY when we are in the Haven for Breakaway?

Either way, being in my own little area will make me happy LOL

Same exact set up in NYC port. As I was reading what you wrote I was picturing the NYC port. It's like you were peaking into the room lol:p

I guess some of you were at the port at the wrong time and missed the free mini massage in the Suite check in lounge along with wine and grapes being handed to you. I passed on the teeth whitening because we did not have time and wanted to get on board ASAP.

Gee I'm on the Epic next month again in a DOS and you might know just had dental check up and cleaning today .... Never been a massage person :( so I guess I will do the same as last 2 years go thru regular security lines, check in at VIP lounge & wait to be taken on board :p Probably to early in the day for the wine & grapes ...... I'd hate to miss sail away !!!!
