So if you wanted to order in the UK. Mixed Green Salad. Not Available Drop Scones (I think) Chicken Wings Gammon or back bacon (depends on how thick or thin it is) Not Available Porridge ( Although tradtionaly made with salt and NOT sugar) Sorbet, Milk Ice or Granita Bread and Butter Pudding. I think I will be trying all of these except the Biscuits and Gravy (a bit too strange for me) and the Bread and Butter Pudding which I really don't like. :)
cb at sea Posted January 15, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 15, 2014 Silver dollar pancakes are simply small pancakes (the size of silver dollars!)...not like scones....flap-jacks or hot-cakes or griddle cakes.....soft texture and you put butter and syrup on them! At least, give the bread pudding a try...it's pretty good!
pinkpanther52 Posted January 16, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted January 16, 2014 :) Drop Scones are not like scones!!! They are small thickish sweet pancakes cooked on a Hot Plate. No idea whey they are called Drop Scones. :) Well I may try the Bread Pud after all you may as well try new foods on a cruise :)

Arusha's first reply is pretty much spot on, but as a fellow Edinbugger who moved this side of the pond over a decade ago there are a few subtleties that were missed: Cream of Wheat = Ready-Brek. Oatmeal in the US covers a multitude of different sized flakes of rolled oats from Instant (almost as thin as CoW), through Quick, to Large Flake with increasing cook time and firmer texture. Only when described as Steel Cut, Pinhead, or occasionally Irish or Scotch, is it the same as proper Scots porridge oats. The oatmeal on Princess is steel cut - I add my own salt at the table or crumble some bacon into it (seriously, try it - especially with real maple syrup!). If you like to dunk your bacon in your egg yolk or otherwise eat it with a knife & fork, order the Canadian version or ask for your 'regular' bacon to be VERY lightly cooked, as by default it will arrive burnt by UK standards (as in, pick up a rasher and it won't bend at all). Regular bacon in the US is what you'll know as Streaky Bacon. When cooked crispy it's fantastic crumbled onto other food - especially oatmeal or chocolate-chip cookies. Do try biscuits & gravy - but not on Princess. There's no sausage in their gravy, so it's literally a plate of regular oven scones covered in white sauce by British standards. Good sausage gravy is excellent though - the Bob Evans chain does a pretty tasty version across much of eastern USA. Bread Pudding is different in texture from Brit version - it's cooked in deep dishes, often individual ramekins, rather than a large shallow dish so the milk & egg sauce (often chocolate, often with Bourbon) basically soaks into the bread without forming a custard around it, and the overall texture is much softer. Good but different.
Gonzo70 Posted January 17, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 17, 2014 Sorbet, Milk Ice or Granita Sherbet is not the same as sorbet or granita; sherbet has dairy (milk, no cream and significantly less fat than ice cream or gelato) whereas sorbet and granita are both dairy free (with sorbet being smoother in texture and granita having a more crunchy, crystal like texture due to much less air). Langley Cruisers Posted January 18, 2014 #9 Share Posted January 18, 2014 Do try biscuits & gravy - but not on Princess... Or Royal Caribbean! I think it's because they sit around in a warming tray and solidify into hockey pucks. Absolutely awful. Oh well. :p
