AKStafford Posted January 16, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2014 Is your land portion on your own or are you doing a prepackage, arranged cruise tour?
phabric Posted January 16, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 16, 2014 Don't know which cruise line you plan to use - Princess has self laundry rooms with washer ($2/machine) & dryers ($2/machine), irons & ironing boards.
dsrdsrdsr Posted January 16, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2014 What's the land tour going to be - hiking with a rucksack, self-drive, coach, rail, flying?
mapleleaves Posted January 16, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 16, 2014 except for formal nite you wear the same clothes for the cruise AND land trip. The key is to dress in layers. I always take 5-6 long sleeve T's, 2 short sleeve T's, a sweatshirt, a hoody, a fleece vest, fleece pullover, 2 jeans, 1 pr khakis, 1 capri, 1 pr shorts, waterproof hooded jacket, lined nylon jogging pants, 1 pr sneakers, 1 pr walking shoes, gloves. I bring a small day pack so that I have a place to store my layers if the day heats up, plus it's good place to keep my wallet, binoculars, camera, water, energy bars, travel book/map. There are laundramats all over Alaska or use the ship.
Budget Queen Posted January 19, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 19, 2014 If going independent, a must, is to have the MILEPOST, which does list some laundry mats. I have used many and the bonus is some great interactions with others. :)
goinmobile68 Posted January 27, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 27, 2014 We didn't expect to have access to laundry on our RCI cruisetour, but one of the hotels had facilities that we used. Had I known that, we could have gotten along with less luggage! Hotel websites aren't accurate about this, but you could always call & ask. I wish I had done that when we checked into a National Park property and found out that the advertised laundry facilities were seasonal... but there was another conviently located 45 miles away!
