Princess ships Maitres D'Hotel list

Based on a personal email I got from him, Neville Saldanha joined the Golden Princess in Buenos Aires yesterday (1/31) and at this time is likely to be aboard into the Alaska season since his contract just began.

We have just received our notice from Princess this morning. Our Hotel Manager when we are on the Ocean Princess from the 17th March for the Sydney to Singapore cruise will be Giacomo Manfredi and our Maitre'd will be Carlos Serrano Da Rosa. I think we have had Carlos before when we have been on the Ocean Princess.

The Rui you are referring to is a head waiter that we are looking forward to seeing soon on the new Royal.

Actually Rui P is a pretty good MD. However, Rui the HW is really, really good and should be promoted to MD. We had the pleasure of sailing with both for extended cruises and Rui the HW is one of our absolutely all time favorites. We look forward to the day he becomes a MD. There are a lot of not good and one really bad MD's that we'd love to see go away.

What does the Maitres D'Hotel do anyway? I have never been able to figure it out. I guess that he is management somehow but how does he affect my restaurant experience? Seems like the only restaurant people I ever interact with are the server and the assistant server.

I don't want to put this on the official sheet as it hasn't been confirmed by Princess but. At the MT Luncheon recently on the Royal Princess I was told (by someone who should know) that Giuseppe Gelmini will be announced as Maitre'd of the Regal Princess. I just wanted to pass the info along.

 

I have had several meetings with and personal conversations with Mr. Gelmini and will vouch for his integrity, service, pleasantries, and true concern for making all of your dining experiences on the ship he is sailing the very best that can be. The Regal and her passengers are in for a grand time.

 

I have sailed with him on the Coral and the Golden. He was most helpful in resolving several major snafus and always attended our formal meet and greets. I wish him smooth sailing as he inaugurates the Regal Princess. I can't think of a better Maitre d'Hotel than he.

mario propato one of the nicest maitre d iv met he actually did a stint on pacific sky with p&o in australia a few yrs ago and lately on dawn and sun princess i v always encountered italians as maitre ds

thier assistants and most ships seem to have up to half a dozen working horizon court / breakfasts etc are from all over the palce ukrainians boris on dawn and sun princess is always a charming fellow wonder who is on sea princess in june

I certainly agree that Mario is one of the best. I thought I had him on an upcoming cruise a few years ago after tracking him down, but he left the ship the cruise before I boarded. I keep hoping I will be able to connect with him again someday.
