Dreamer333 Posted January 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2014 I loved watching the reruns onboard the Ruby this week, but I was surprised at how sexual the show was! Most of that went over my head when I was a kid! Those people were getting lucky left and right lol!

Most of that went over my head when I was a kid! Those people were getting lucky left and right lol! Thus the name of the show! We also enjoy seeing the reruns onboard. Wish they'd show more than one episode a day. Have also enjoyed them on MUTS! :D
wilfros Posted January 27, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2014 Those people were getting lucky left and right lol! REALLY??? :eek:Does that sort of thing really take place on a cruise? Who has the energy after the day the cruise director staff planned for us?? AE_Collector Posted January 27, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 27, 2014 Yes they should have a Love Boat Rerun channel showing lots or all episodes continuously. On a sad note, the original Pacific Princess was just scrapped a few months ago in Turkey. Here is a web site link that someone posted elsewhere with many pictures on the Pacific Princess when she was still looking for a buyer in June 2012. http://maritimematters.com/2012/06/visit-to-the-former-pacific-princess/ Terry
azdmelani Posted January 27, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 27, 2014 I love watching the show on the ship! On the Royal they had 5 episodes on demand to watch, much better than waiting for it to come on Channel 22.

fabby50 Posted January 27, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 27, 2014 Well, it was the 70s :) If you enjoy guest stars and you get MeTV, check out the Columbo reruns on Sunday night. Lots of people did guest appearances. Batman was another one with a lot of guest stars making cameos.
Astro Flyer Posted January 27, 2014 #11 Share Posted January 27, 2014 The Love Boat was similar to the earlier Love American Style but on a ship. With so many old programs on DVD it's surprising that only the first 2 seasons of Love Boat are available. Gavin's video interview said that many of those old celebrities had not worked in many, many years.
rebeccalouiseagain Posted January 27, 2014 #12 Share Posted January 27, 2014 I have had a number of cruise romances with passengers and crew (Holland America, Princess and Celebrity). A girl I met and traveled with on NCL ended up having a shipboard romance with an executive from the cruise line. My friend dated the ship Captain on Holland America and returned for several cruises. My sister had a romance with a ship Captain on Oceania. My friends did a cruise and coupled up with guys on board. Cruising is very romantic! DrivesLikeMario Posted January 27, 2014 #16 Share Posted January 27, 2014 OP, we must be about the same age. Completely went over my head too. I love to watch those old reruns while on a cruise and now my young-adult sons are hooked on them too. They have a million questions: "Where's the security scanners?" "Is that the only pool on the ship?" "Why do their cabins look so big?" "Was there only 1 bartender on the whole ship?" "Why did they dance in the dining room?" :D

Eagle_and_hawk Posted January 27, 2014 #18 Share Posted January 27, 2014 We were just sitting here watching some old episodes ourselves. You can watch the first six seasons on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqqxzf5_1oKFyPAMVfBEqLw It is amazing how many stars were on that series. Saturday nights on TV back then was watching The Love Boat & then Fantasy Island. David

The gang way actually goes down from the dock to get on, compared the zig-zag up several ramps to get get on now. David
TubT Posted January 27, 2014 #20 Share Posted January 27, 2014 Of course, much of what we saw when we were young was produced in such a way as to be entertaining to both children and adults. Take a look at the old cartoons (Bugs Bunny, et al) that were designed to play before the feature. There's a lot there that kids just don't get. I would love to find a "Love Boat" channel on the ship. Of course, I'd have to turn on the TV, first, and we didn't do that on our most recent cruise. Believe it or not, Charo is the featured act at one of the casinos out here. The picture of her looks just the same. She was either 16 during the Love Boat or she is a great looking science project.:eek::D

obnurse Posted January 28, 2014 #25 Share Posted January 28, 2014 Loved "The Love Boat" back in the seventies and still do now. I'm a bit of a sap for nostalgia. I have some of the seasons on dvd and my cell phone is set to The Love Boat theme when my dh calls me. We always enjoy seeing the reruns in our cabin.
