Allure Lifeboat Drill

Recommended Posts

Muster is held in many of the lounges and public areas on the ship. If you were to have to go to the lifeboats you would access them from deck 5. As far as I know everyone mustered in a lounge, theater, dining room or public area. And... no PFD's in the staterooms. In the case of need, you would be issued one.

Just to be clear: PFD means Personal Floation Device. Are you saying that each stateroom doesn't have lifejackets (PFD's) in them?

yes, because RCI's reasoning with the USCG when they pioneered no life jacket muster drills was that in an actual emergency, they would not want you going back to your cabin to get one. If you listen to the spiel during your drill they say "in the unlikely event that this had been an actual emergency, proceed directly to your muster station, a life jacket will be issued to you there..." so since they have enough life jackets on board, they can issue one to everybody at their muster station. So no need to keep one in your stateroom.

No, the staterooms on the Allure do not contain PFD's. They instruct you in the event of an emergency, these will be available on deck. The size of the ship makes it difficult to "run" to a stateroom to grab a PFD. That was the rationale I've been given.

Sorry... hubby was 27 years in the Coast Guard... so no life jackets in this house (LOL).. only PDFs... and if you look around the ship you'll see many lockers noting PDFs... we mustered in the comedy club and there are PDFs in the club! Next time you are on board see if you can find the locker!
