MS52 Posted January 28, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 28, 2014 OK WHICH IS THE BEST STEAK IN CHOPS:rolleyes: ALSO CAN YOU GET A LOBSTER TAIL TO GO WIYH IT??? IMHO, the filet. You can get a lobster tail but there is an additional up charge.
Esmerelda Posted January 29, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 29, 2014 Filet mignon is to die for....;) We've eaten there on every cruise ship that had a Chops, NEVER a bad experience. Enjoy!
Darkwolfe Posted January 29, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 29, 2014 And a fourth vote for the filet. Looking forward to an evening in Chops on Serenade next week. :)
CruiseDude_83 Posted January 29, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 29, 2014 I am a fan of the 18oz Porterhouse I get it every time!
cruisinpips Posted January 29, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 29, 2014 I would definitely say the Filet! Haven't tried anything else, because I have not needed to. Best specialty restaurant at sea in our opinion. Enjoy your steak!:D:D
stones902 Posted January 29, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 29, 2014 I like the filet because it is so lean. 2nd choice is the classic NY strip. I'm getting old and can't polish off a whole porterhouse anymore. Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

Rare markeb Posted January 29, 2014 #12 Share Posted January 29, 2014 We always do the filet as it's probably the best blend of flavor, size, and (low) fat content. I've never had the porterhouse at Chops (it's huge, if memory serves), but there's no doubt that if you're truly a steak lover, a porterhouse will be better than a filet, as the fat content and size will make for a more flavorful steak! I don't remember the exact size, but it's BIG.
Miamia65 Posted January 29, 2014 #13 Share Posted January 29, 2014 fillet mignon cooked medium, otherwise it will be overcooked.
papaflamingo Posted January 29, 2014 #14 Share Posted January 29, 2014 Another filet vote... but make mine rare! My son had the New York strip and loved it. A friend once did the Braised Short Ribs and I gotta say they looked fantastic. And don't forget the appetizers. If you like oysters the oyster duet is fantastic, as is the shrimp cocktail. On Oasis in Sep. I asked the waiter which he recommended so he just brought both. The shrimp were huge and delicious as were the oysters. Sides are all great and come "family style" so order a bunch. I never really make desert, but we will share the creme brulee..It's about all I can handle after everything else. Now I'm hungry!
cruisnpat Posted January 29, 2014 #15 Share Posted January 29, 2014 You people have made me hungry for chops, and I'm not cruising until Sept.
FLACRUISER99 Posted January 29, 2014 #16 Share Posted January 29, 2014 I find the small filet (12oz. I thinK) better then the large one.
leaveitallbehind Posted January 29, 2014 #17 Share Posted January 29, 2014 (edited) As many have mentioned, the filet IMO rivals many of the best steak houses in the US - or maybe its the other way around! ahecht Posted January 29, 2014 #18 Share Posted January 29, 2014 (edited) Filet is tender, but is completely lacking any steak flavor (which is why they offer all those sauces). I wish they offered a nice ribeye or delmonico steak. Of the choices they offer, I guess I would go with the t-bone (which is just the filet and NY Strip before they are cut apart) so you get to try both. Beachdude Posted January 29, 2014 #20 Share Posted January 29, 2014 Not sure if Chops has it because we sail so many cruise lines, but "bone in ribeye" is by far the best steak I've been served on a ship. The T-Bone is number 2. Burt

bigboffs Posted January 29, 2014 #22 Share Posted January 29, 2014 Just off the Liberty. On first night they offer a steak and lobster special and you can choose your steak. Most we saw seemed to take the filet (small one). I had 2 lobsters instead of the steak and DH had porterhouse and lobster. We were dining with 2 other couples and their combinations varied. All agreed that the entire meal was exceptional.
