Beach on your own

Just returned home from Grand Cayman on the Ruby Princess

when you exit the port there are many taxi drivers offering rides to various beaches

We agreed to go to the public beach for $5/person

There were around 8 passengers from our ship already in the van when we got in

It is about a ten minute ride

When we arrived at the beach, the driver dropped us off at a beach club that charged an entry fee. When we questioned him , he said the public beach is over there.... over where ? There were fences all around.

We were all confused and upset. He left us there and drove away He was arrogant and didn't try to explain

we were left there on our own to figure it out

PLEASE be very careful to notice where you are being dropped off in Grand Cayman

They just wanted our money and to be rid of us

It might not have been so bad if I didnt have elderly parents with me and another group had a little baby

We walked down the beach a while and found a nice area to relax

The beach was great and the water was warm and crystal clear

On other islands I've been too you pay at the end of your excursion not at the beginning. They ask you what time to return for pick up and this way your guaranteed that they'll come back to get you because they want their money. If that's not the way it works I will be definitely be taking the bus!:(
