Cras108er Posted February 10, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 10, 2014 We were fortunate to accumulate a generous amount of OB. On our current cruise. We know that we cannot carry over a balance. So here is the question. Can we use some of the remaining balance for a FCC? We already plan to use some to cover our tips. Do we need to go on a spending spree before we disembark? Thanks. Nan_Sea Posted February 10, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 10, 2014 It cannot be used for FCC.
triple7tahoe Posted February 11, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 11, 2014 On the ONE cruise where I had remaining OBC I received a check from Princess for the amount that was left-around $40 if my memory serves me right;) In following other blogs on here about the same subject I see that my experience was not unusual. Some folks have suggested going to the Passenger Services Desk at the end of the cruise and that they have been given cash refund? I cannot vouch for that. hpeabody Posted February 11, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 11, 2014 I am just off the Sapphire and had nearly $600.00 in unused OBC. I had heard that on the last night you can ask at passenger services for a cash pay out. I did exactly that. It took just a few minutes to fill out the forms etc and I walked away with the cash. I plan to use the money toward my future cruise in October, I will just put in savings and hold it there for that purpose. No, you do not have the option to apply it as FCC. Cash on board or check sent later by Princess corporate are your options.
Pam in CA Posted February 11, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 11, 2014 First, if you purchase an FCC, it's charged directly to your credit card as it's considered a deposit on a future cruise. The amount is processed through the Princess corporate booking department and is completely separate from your onboard spending for goods and services used/bought while on the cruise. Any left-over OBC will be refunded to you, either in cash, a check sent to you afterwards or credit to your credit card. This is a relatively new procedure as it used to be that some OBC was not refundable. I first learned of this in October. Last year, when I had left-over OBC, I received a check a couple of weeks after I got home. I've heard of others getting cash before disembarking. Check your folio and if you have left-over credit, check with the Passenger Services Desk.
Cras108er Posted February 11, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted February 11, 2014 Thanks for the bonus info. I was not aware you could cash your balance out. That's good to know. Now maybe I won't be an alcoholic by the end of the cruise. :D
likeadisguise Posted February 11, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 11, 2014 If you have leftover OBC it will be returned in cash (on the cruise) or sent in a check (after your cruise), but it won't go back to your credit card in file -- they can't refund money to a card they've never charged. WAVTAM Posted February 13, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 13, 2014 If you want the cash(without standing in line on last day at services desk),I just go to slot machine, established an account and put the remaining OBC in account. Just don't play and then ask to cash out. Take receipt to casino window and get your cash.

How do you get so much OBC? What are some tips? I know CCL stock and FCC, what are some other ways? I never seem to have much to use. Maybe I need to cruise more. Nan_Sea Posted February 14, 2014 #12 Share Posted February 14, 2014 Glenn, we have OBC from stock, FCC, military, travel agent. 20 day cruise nearly $
Crystabel Posted February 14, 2014 #13 Share Posted February 14, 2014 We have quite a large OBC from our TA along with some other OBC from Princess for our upcoming Baltic cruise. I don't think we'll use it all. I wonder if we'll be able to get cash or a check for any remanding balance.

If you put credit on your card and then take it to the dsk for cash, your card will be rejected nest time you want to use it in a slot. You have to play the machine. Anyway, it's easier now that the desk will refund any unused OBC in cash.
Pam in CA Posted February 14, 2014 #15 Share Posted February 14, 2014 Glenn, we have OBC from stock, FCC, military, travel agent. 20 day cruise nearly $900I don't get military but for my 17-day cruise in September, I'll have $525 in OBC for just me. That includes TA, FCC, stock and additional loyalty credit because by that time, I'll have 41 cruise credits.
paul929207 Posted February 14, 2014 #16 Share Posted February 14, 2014 There is also promotional OBC from Princess on occasion. For instance, for two of our Med cruises next October, we go $100 each extra OBC.
