Pam in CA Posted February 11, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 11, 2014 Reception/casino have tons of quarters.I agree. There's a machine in the laundry room but if it's out of quarters, it's so easy to stop by the Passenger Services Desk and get change at your convenience. No need to lug heavy quarters unless you don't need to worry about luggage weight. You might want to bring Tide Pods or something like that in a ZipLoc bag for your laundry and some dryer sheets. Extras will keep your clothes smelling fresh in the closet.
Cras108er Posted February 11, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 11, 2014 I've brought quarters before, but have since found out there is a change machine in the laundry that takes "real money." It will take any denomination of bill up to a $20. As others have said, you can also get change in the casino or at the reception desk.
Mississippian Posted February 11, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 11, 2014 There are quarters available in the change machines in the laundry and you can get rolls from the purser. My experience has been that the machines run completely out and so does the purser the last day or two of the cruise. So you should either bring a roll or two or else go to the purser the first couple of days and get some. Also, while you are in the bringing mode, bring your own detergent. It's expensive on board. crackupforlaughs Posted February 12, 2014 Author #7 Share Posted February 12, 2014 (edited) Thanks! forgot to ask - how much is a load of laundry? dryer? Edited February 12, 2014 by crackupforlaughs add question
northernsw Posted February 12, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 12, 2014 One thing to note is that change purchased in the laundry room, or rolls purchased at the pursers desk often have Princess tokens in them as well as quarters. Not a big deal, but use them first unless you want souvenirs.

Rare TracieABD Posted February 12, 2014 #10 Share Posted February 12, 2014 Best I can remember- $2 to wash and $2 to dry. I am one of those people who brings quarters. I love, love, love to do laundry in a laundromat (weird, I know). I don't like running around looking for change. I just bring my own. My husband carries it! Mississippian Posted February 12, 2014 #15 Share Posted February 12, 2014 The Casino doesn't. Uh, the last ship I was on (Ruby) did not take quarters in the casino. It was all on the cruise card. So they had zero quarters available.

satxdiver Posted February 13, 2014 #18 Share Posted February 13, 2014 Can I change large US notes ($20) for smaller denominations at the Purser's desk? $20 bills are not a problem anywhere. However in a lot of places excluding the ship, any bill larger ($50 or $100) are extremely hard to use in the USA so my advice is to stay away from them. There are exceptions of course. BLS Posted February 13, 2014 #21 Share Posted February 13, 2014 (edited) Does the Royal Princess still use quarters for their machines? Or use our cruise card? Thank you. No quarters on the Royal. In the laundry your cruise card is used for laundry tokens. In the casino you can use your cruise card or paper money in the slot machines.
