Reception/casino have tons of quarters.
I agree. There's a machine in the laundry room but if it's out of quarters, it's so easy to stop by the Passenger Services Desk and get change at your convenience. No need to lug heavy quarters unless you don't need to worry about luggage weight. You might want to bring Tide Pods or something like that in a ZipLoc bag for your laundry and some dryer sheets. Extras will keep your clothes smelling fresh in the closet.

I've brought quarters before, but have since found out there is a change machine in the laundry that takes "real money." It will take any denomination of bill up to a $20. As others have said, you can also get change in the casino or at the reception desk.

There are quarters available in the change machines in the laundry and you can get rolls from the purser. My experience has been that the machines run completely out and so does the purser the last day or two of the cruise. So you should either bring a roll or two or else go to the purser the first couple of days and get some.

Also, while you are in the bringing mode, bring your own detergent. It's expensive on board.

Best I can remember- $2 to wash and $2 to dry.

I am one of those people who brings quarters. I love, love, love to do laundry in a laundromat (weird, I know). I don't like running around looking for change. I just bring my own. My husband carries it!

You bet!

They can even change those big $100 Benjamin Franklin's as well.

Mike:)

Oh that I had a few of those!!!! :D When I changed money I asked for small denominations - $20s were what I got along with a few fives. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Can I change large US notes ($20) for smaller denominations at the Purser's desk?

$20 bills are not a problem anywhere. However in a lot of places excluding the ship, any bill larger ($50 or $100) are extremely hard to use in the USA so my advice is to stay away from them. There are exceptions of course.

Does the Royal Princess still use quarters for their machines? Or use our cruise card?

Thank you.

No quarters on the Royal. In the laundry your cruise card is used for laundry tokens. In the casino you can use your cruise card or paper money in the slot machines.
