swimgirl1 Posted February 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 14, 2014 Opinions on what side is better viewing, port or starboard side cabin on the Pacific Princess 10 day Tahiti?
buelah111 Posted April 18, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2014 I'm curious about this as well. We may be booking this cruise for February.
Kenswing Posted April 18, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 18, 2014 (edited) It really doesn't matter.. We just got back from the 10 day and were on the port side. Some islands we would anchor port side to shore others we would dock on the starboard side.. Coming to the islands you would often pass through a narrow inlet so both sides got a view.. While on anchor the ship swings with the wind.. Depends which way the wind blows as to what view you'll get. We also had a change of port order due to weather so you just might be coming from a different direction than you thought you would.. dorisis Posted April 18, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 18, 2014 We have been to Tahiti twice and prefer port side, IF, and that's a big IF, the ship is docked with port side actually facing the port.
thyme2go Posted April 18, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 18, 2014 (edited) You really cannot know which side will be 'better'.......but having a balcony was essential for us. Drying clothes outside after all the fun in the water was so easy. Plus, spending time watching the beautiful scenery go by was pretty enjoyable too.........the Pacific is so easy to get around that if something happens on the opposite side you can get over there and watch it in 10 seconds! Enjoy the trip......it truly is one of the most amazing places on earth, and the people are beautiful too!! tango223 Posted April 18, 2014 #6 Share Posted April 18, 2014 Question on the time of year you sail to FP and whether you had any rain. I read that there is a rainy and dry season in FP the dry being May to Oct. Notice that Princess and many other ships while in transit from Australia/NZ would sail in Feb..which is the rainy season.
RetiredNTraveling Posted April 18, 2014 #7 Share Posted April 18, 2014 What about an Aft suite? Hopefully the view will be just as good! :D
Pam in CA Posted April 18, 2014 #8 Share Posted April 18, 2014 What about an Aft suite? Hopefully the view will be just as good! :DAgain, it all depends. If the ship is docked in front of another ship, you'll have a great view of its backside. :) If the ship is swinging at anchor, you could have a view of just ocean, not land. No matter which side, or aft, you'll get a view some of the time and never all of the time. I never book a cabin on a specific side nor do I care unless it's a Panama Canal or Alaskan cruise. Even then, the best views are from the Promenade or public decks.
Mommypig Posted April 18, 2014 #9 Share Posted April 18, 2014 What about an Aft suite? Hopefully the view will be just as good! :D The aft suites and balcony staterooms have balconies with solid walls instead of open rails. You can only see if you are standing, not sitting down. We like the mid ships balcony staterooms. We have stayed in 7061 and 7064. Only staterooms above and below you. No public areas so no noise from buffet or pool area like on 8, or the casino, kitchen, and cabaret lounge like on 6.
