Difficult Choice: Bahamas or Eastern Caribbean

We are two ladies in our mid-sixties and we have to choose between a

4 day cruise to Bahamas featuring Grand Bahama, Great Stirrup Cay and Nassau on Norwegian Sky

or

7 day Eastern Caribbean cruise featuring St Thomas, Tortola and Nassau

on Norwegian Getaway

as an add-on to our Alaska cruise of 7 days on Norwegian Sun

during September...

PLEASE HELP ???

Not a difficult choice at all for me. I would opt for the 7-day Eastern Carib over the 4-day Bahamas every time. Longer cruise plus better itinerary (IMHO). Also, Breakaway is bigger with more frills than the Sky (not a positive to everyone).

Win by a landslide, thus far, [Like] (thumbs up) Caribbean islands vs. Bahamas and added bonus of NCL's newest Getaway, a virtual floating resort at sea.

Besides, if sea conditions are rough, ship won't even make it to Great Stirup Cay for tendering. Nassau isn't exactly our favorite port either, just exited the terminal building, walked up the block & picked up some gift items & turned around to head back to the ship.

THANK YOU ! THANK YOU EVERYBODY....!!

I NEVER thought that the choice could be so easy... I have never been even CLOSE to the USA, let alone the tropical islands -so this is really unknown territory for me...

Your response and all the info you give me is very much appreciated.

THANX AGAIN.

Jasjas.

You will like Caribbeans much more than Bahamas!

Only concern is... if you flying over the pond, maybe it makes sense to look for a cruise with more ports? There are 7 nights/4 ports itineraries from Florida or even 7 nights/5 ports from Puerto Rico. Not necessarily with NCL, but still.

Thanks Tatka, we have to go Norwegian as we already have the deposit as a cruise reward and we have a limited budget due to the VERY expensive airfare flying from South Africa and a horrendously weak currency compared to US$...

But we intend to make the most of it.

I really do appreciate your input !
