Royal Princess Retreat cabanas

Can a Retreat cabana be rented for the week? How much is it for a one week rental? If not, do you have to go the day before early in the am to reserve one for the next day. Everyone on this board explained in detail re the Sanctuary's proceedure, and the unlikelyhood of being able to secure two lougers for the week. But I am still unclear re Retreat cabana rentals. Thanks. Anita

  • 3 weeks later...

I googled it for you, At the Retreat Pool, six poolside cabanas will offer private poolside space with two loungers per cabana. Rental costs start at $50 for a half day.

Available to all cabana purchasers will be the gourmet cabana picnic baskets, packed with antipasti, sandwiches, pizza and deserts, and paired with a premium wine. Baskets serving two people begin at $40.

hope this helps answer your question.

There isn't much shade with the retreat cabanas. I was just off an eastern caribean cruise last month and it was very windy. Went there daily and there was almost always one available. You shouldn't have a problem with bookng.

I'd still like to know if a cabana can be booked for the week, or if it is only for a half day. The reason why I am trying to find this out: We will be sailing on the Royal during spring break time. It would be nice to have two loungers reserved for us, providing at least a little shade (I am bringing my small sunbrella with me, which may work-) any way, that is what I am trying to find out if anyone has been able to reserve a pool side cabana for the week, and how much it cost for the week.....

I can't seem to find any info on them other than the half day price. One lady did say she thought they were $80 a day. We sail her on March 30th but guess that is too late for you. I would of asked about it and posted a response.

Last month it was 50 for a half day and 80 for the full day.

They are available on a first come first serve basis every morning. They were not available to reserve for the week in advance,

The sanctuary was usually booked by 6:45. There wasn't much demand for the retreat cabanas by the end of the week, so they were always available, As I said, it got very windy up there. Also, you mentioned shade...there really isn't much despite the covering. Talk to the manager at embarkation...the staff are great about assessing the area.

One tip: stay away from the cabanas by the whirlpool. The water can overflow.

Enjoy your cruise!

Thanks all... Well lets see: Plan 1: reserve two shaded loungers in Retreat for week- probobly won't work out- Plan 2: reserve Retreat cabana for the week, not going to happen. Plan 3A: Just use Retreat pool for a quick dip- dry off and find any 2 loungers in any shade, someplace on the ship. Hopefully we will be able to get into the Enclave, at the least, and that will be our basic water entertainment on board the ship. Plan 3B If it is not a windy day and cabana is available for morning on a sea day, and it is not next to whirlpool, then we will book that. So much for a relaxing trip!

@Anita

I was on a B2B on the Royal in January and yes you can rent a chair or a full cabana at the sancturary for the week. The chair is $40 p/p per day and I believe the full cabana was $80 p/p per day . We could not get the first week confirmed so went up every morning to book for the following day, but our friends reserved a full cabana for the week ( this is the one that includes your lounge area inside with TV,mini bar, fruits, candies and outside 2 lounge chairs). No special price for the week either.

We don't need a cabana with TV etc, then we might as well just stay in cabin.

You know, I can't find any reviews from people who actually used the cabanas by Retreat pool. Well, if we actually get to use one, then I will review experience after our cruise!

The cabanas with the tv etc are the not the ones by the pool, they are within the sactuary. Hopefully the cabanas by the pool fail to sell so Princess remove this nasty upselling, and put regular deck chairs in there place. I guess this wont happen because it seems when people are on a cruise ship if there a price tag attached to it people will buy it.

They were selling on our December cruise - 5 out of 6 were being used the 2 mornings we went to the pool. And if someone can afford a cabana and wants to use it, who are you to judge?

Yikes! I'm not surprised by the lack of demand! You may never find out the answer to your question since it's so expensive! But, on the other hand, you should have plenty of choices!

They were all booked almost every since day of my cruise.

I, personally, would rather spend my money elsewhere!

And that's the choice you make. Just as others would choose on spending their money on a drinks package, shore excursion, specialty restaurant, spa visit, The Santuary, or gambling in the casino.

Last week, the retreat pool was very, very windy. Think flip flops, towels, and everything else blowing by you. We moved around a couple of times trying to find a less windy spot by the pool, but they all seemed to be very windy.

It makes the cabanas look less than relaxing.

I agree. I don't understand the whole TV, Sofa, Bar setup in the sanctuary. For the price they charge a day you may as well book a suite and just stay in your room.

My dh and I can't figure that out either? I certainly don't begrudge people who do spend the money for Sanctuary cabana with tv, etc. But to me, then I might as not leave my cabin! Just don't get that concept.

Anyway, the Retreat cabana, I understand- if it is usable--If it is just too windy to just be there, then another waste of money. Well, if we are able to rent one, I'll certainly report whether it was worth it or not--Maybe due to too many windy days, that could be why it is not rented for the week?

We had been going three times with the Royal Princess.

For those who are interested in December 2014 we did the 11 day Caribic cruise and did rent a cabana inside the Sanctuary for whole day / whole cruise. the price per day was 220 dollar, we only paid for 10 days when we arrived at 12:00 clock at the ship. The service is amazing, and from my opinion its worth every penny.

I was on the Royal in Jan 2014 and used the Retreat poolside cabanas for three sea days. We booked these each morning and was $80 per full day from memory. On that particular Caribbean itinerary I never experienced the windy conditions others report. I enjoyed the comfortable lounger and service. Worth it for me.
