Cruised 2/9/2014 - 2/16/2014 --- Beautiful ship -- enjoyed everything we did. From eating to shows -- Rock of Ages (free) - Cirque Dreams 39.99 charge so worth it. Make reservation when you decide the day you want to go.

We arrived at 10:30 on the ship at 11:15 ( we were in The Haven ).

Theses are just suggestions -- give yourself a little extra time to go from here to there and you will not have any problems -- there are only to banks of elevators again a little extra time --

Any questions I will try to answer.

I also loved the Breakaway and was in the Haven. Thank you for the positive comments! I wrote a long and positive review at the time (7/13) but it's so long ago that I think people don't see it anymore.

I loved our cruise!!:) And I would welcome any questions as I'm sure you would as well!

Thank you! Did either of you dine much in the Haven? My plan so far is to have most of our breakfasts there. (We're in an aft penthouse). I'm just wondering how good the food is. Also thinking about celebrating our 30th anniversary there as it is the same night as the cocktails with the captain. We like filet mignon and/or seafood. Any opinions? Thanks again! :)

Thanks so much for your review!

Glad you had a good cruise.

:)

We sail on her in July to Bermuda and are counting the days. It's the only thing that's getting us through this brutal winter.

Happy Sailing!

P.S. There's a running joke going on the boards now about Lobster Night. I could care less because I don't eat it or any kind of fish. I just want to sit back and see who the first person is that asks you where the free lobster was (buffet or MDR) and what night it was.

Shhhhhh. Don't answer me!!!

Yes we did -- if you cruised on NLC and have dined at Cagneys -- and liked their offerings - you will like the food in The Haven-- first day we had lunch and dinner -- it was wonderful -- we had breakfast (everyday) lunch and dinner often -- we did go to specialty restaurants - enjoyed every one ---

Plenty of filet mignon and seafood with wonderful desserts -- For me a perfect place to celebrate !

Hi again!

We had every breakfast except for one in the room (divine!) in the Haven and a couple of lunches but no dinners. We loved the food and service! The menu appears the exact same as the one in Cagney's for lunch and dinner for suite passengers, but after three cruises in suites/Haven, we never tired of it. Can't speak to dinner though....I kind of regret not eating there for dinner, but there are just so many choices! Part of why I love NCL!:)

If you click on my username and look for my review under 'threads started by TYMike' you will eventually find my review under something like 'Breakaway review 7/14-7/21 Finally'. I included pics of the Haven restaurant.

Have a great cruise!:)

I am hijacking my mom's thread but I wanted to add that we really, really liked the Breakaway as well. And this comes from someone who said they would never do the Breakaway because it is so big. : )

So glad we had he chance to form our own opinion...... Yes, we were in the Haven but we also ventured out to see the shows, specialty restaurants, the main pool area with our kids, Spice H2o, the fireworks, the casino, fitness center, atrium cafe......Etc etc.....

This is soooo minor but one of the cool little things that they now do really is a great idea. Your photos are now in a binder so you don't have to go crazy looking through hundreds to find yourself. Hahahaha! Your cabin key has your own personalized number and matches up.

cruiser12- We have dined in Jefferson's Bistro (or whatever it is) on the POA and we weren't too impressed. It sounds like the Haven will be perfect for our anniversary dinner. (And I won't have to walk very far in high heels. ;)) Thank you so much!

tymike- I believe I read your review quite a while ago and it was great. I'll check it out again when the 'search' function gets restored. Thanks!

I have sailed on many of NCL ships all different and all brought something different to the table -- but Breakaway is in a category all by itself. So glad I sailed on her. Would sail again on Breakaway. This next time I would like my hubby to enjoy the wonderful experience on "The Breakaway" --

So much to do and see -- loved it

35/sailings and counting

Tatka, I've been on the Dawn, Gem and Jewel as well and the Breakaway offers the same type of bars and lounges with music. Probably more so. All types.

We would go on again simply because we didn't even see everything there was to see and do everything there was to be done : )

I was saying to my hubby that we need to do a 10 dayer, just so we can try all the specialty restaurants for dinner. We just didn't get to all of them. Moderno and Cagneys were separated by this really nice bar called Prime Meridian and then you could see right into the Manhattan club dining area that was below. That looked really nice....with the dance floor and band....Like a supper club.

The waterfront was really nice.... And that was different have all the restaurants have outdoor seating.

Glad you had a great time. Would you be able to post the summary sheet for the week - the one page that shows the highlights of the show times?

So cirque was worth it, I was thinking of doing it but read a review stating the seats were so close together it was hard to sit comfortably. Did you find this to be true?

Not at all -- we were a family of 6 and 3 guest came - total of 9 -- center table --- as I looked around to the other tables everyone seemed to be a ok -- the seats are great no matter where you sit --

One of the things that comes to mind is how ( my opinion ) well everyting was so well thought out regarding this ship -- to make it comfortable for the thousands of passengers that sail on her -- I was really impressed

Since we're on that topic of seating at Cirque, from some pics online it looks like some of the chairs face away from the stage. Is that the case? Do those people just turn their chairs around when the show starts?

Thanks!

Hi there.... Regarding the seating at the Cirque show.... There wasn't any seats facing away from the stage but I dont think there were any directly straight forward either except if you are in a booth in the back. I am not sure how to explain it. Even tho' we were sitting in the front off center, I had to turn my head to watch the show. My other family members who sat across from me, had a perfect view without turning at all but it really wasn't a big deal for me to turn my head : )

.....and the show really was great!
