Spring or Fall...which is the best season?

 

Spring - Sydney to Honolulu to Vancouver

or

Fall - Vancouver to Honolulu to Sydney

I would suggest doing it during the Australian Spring, which translates to the northern Fall.

 

Outback Australia is likely to be hot, dry & dusty in the Autumn. It's more likely to be green, with the occasional wildflower, in Spring.

We cruised Honolulu back to Sydney, found this suited us. We had 10 days in Honolulu prior to cruise & had no luggage limit from our vast shopping trips.

We arrived back in Sydney in October which is a nice time to travel as it's spring & not too hot.

Depends on your itinerary, but I would suggest travelling in spring. As noted by Vader spring is preferable.

Either time would be fine. We have done both . The weather will be about the same either way. I take it you are looking at a repositioning cruise ie ships coming from the Summer in Alaska to the summer downunder and then back again rather than a sector of a World cruise that tends to come through the tropics in the rainy season.

Its really up to you.

Do you want to cruise out and fly home,

or fly out and cruise home ?

 

Dont forget ....You lose a day one way and gain a day the other.:D

 

I enjoy cruising home the best as you dont have the hassles of being pushed around like cattle on aircraft.:eek:

We have done a Trans Pacific cruise on 3 occasions, for us, we prefer to get the long flight over then cruise back to "down under".

My thoughts exactly.

 

I'd much rather get the long flight out of the way at the beginning of my holiday and return to work fresh after a relaxing cruise.

Agree again, much better to cruise home, more relaxing, no problems with luggage limits, especially with DW And DD plus female friend. Lots and lots of luggage :)

to Sydney is better for not getting really tired as you gain an hour each sea day rather than lose one

Personally, I prefer the long flight first, then the slow cruise home. We did 9 days in Honolulu pre-cruise and absolutely loved it! Plus we were still able to look forward to the cruise. I loved that holiday! :)
