buzz2400 Posted February 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2014 We are really considering booking a cruise that leaves in week. We both don't have any fancy things to wear. I have my office work clothes and he might be able to find a pair of dress pants. Does he really have to wear a tie and can he get a way with just wearing "dark" sneakers. This is a last minute thing and I really don't have the time to find all of these things. Quick response would be nice since I would have to book tomorrow. wickedhangover Posted February 23, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2014 just got off the breeze, saw plenty of t-shirts on formal night, you'll be just fine.
FireEater Posted February 23, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 23, 2014 Sure. Dress him like you want. You might get the snake eyes from people. This has been a subject (both sore and otherwise) for a loooooong time on this board. All you have to do is get by the front door staff in the dining room. More and more are not wearing ties, but a jacket. Some not so much that either.
YubaSutter Posted February 23, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 23, 2014 As long as he isn't wearing shorts on elegant night, he's good.
marshhawk Posted February 23, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 23, 2014 EVen though the rules are posted for all ships, seems recently some of the ships are becoming more lax, like the Elation, but not the Fascination. A golf shirt and a pair of pants for hubby will work fine.
PROCRUISE Posted February 23, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 23, 2014 (edited) CCL has NO dress code that is enforced, period. Slacks and a shirt will be "dressy" on CCL. Enjoy your cruise too. :) Edited February 23, 2014 by PROCRUISE
riffatsea Posted February 23, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 23, 2014 My husband wears black jeans and black shoes with a shirt, no jacket and no tie. NO problem at all on elegant night! Don't worry . Just go and enjoy!

sgttami Posted February 23, 2014 #11 Share Posted February 23, 2014 Just got off Splendor and it was the least dressy (Elegant Night) cruise I've ever been on. There was a mix of everything. It was also one of the most fun! Pam

crusinpsychRN Posted February 23, 2014 #13 Share Posted February 23, 2014 (edited) Don't worry about it, you'll be fine! Just no shorts or 'wife beaters' on elegant night. Edited February 23, 2014 by crusinpsychRN
awhcruiser Posted February 23, 2014 #14 Share Posted February 23, 2014 The dress code is not enforced so he can wear what he already has at home. No need to shop for new clothes.
mousey Posted February 23, 2014 #15 Share Posted February 23, 2014 As long as he isn't wearing shorts on elegant night, he's good. Or isn't wearing a hat, tank top or, beach-type flip flops. My DS wears a collared golf-type shirt and dress pants for "dress up or don't night". He always wears clean tennis shoes. Never had a problem. This is on Carnival and NCL cruises. We've been on many of them. He should be fine. Go and enjoy yourselves. I hope you have an awesome cruise! Your office dress or suit would be fine also. candacemac24 Posted February 24, 2014 #16 Share Posted February 24, 2014 Don't worry, although many dress in full length gowns and tuxedos like it's their prom, it's no big deal at all just to wear a nice polo with some dress pants, and as for the ladies, nice office clothes would likely work just fine. Have fun! :D Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
rjrice1 Posted February 24, 2014 #17 Share Posted February 24, 2014 Don't worry what others would thing... you will never see them again any ways. Nice dress pants, shirt and dark sneakers are fine. Be comfortable. Most important.... enjoy yourself. Cathy
OCruisers Posted February 24, 2014 #18 Share Posted February 24, 2014 Long pants and a shirt with a collar will work for elegant nights on Carnival. Have FUN on your cruise! :D LuLu ~~~~
