PigBoy Posted February 24, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 24, 2014 Looking to book our first Celebrity cruise (Equinox 11-day Ultimate Caribbean). Would really prefer a covered balcony (makes reading on my ipad so much more enjoyable!) but cannot figure out which balconies are covered and which aren't. Anyone have any guidelines for cabin selection?
hughdm Posted February 24, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 24, 2014 There are 2 "sticky" posts at the top of the Celebrity posts page that will give you most anything you might want to know about a cabin. It's very informative.
justcrusn Posted February 24, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 24, 2014 How about the aqua class a1 balconies, most of them are under an overhang.
Rare Essiesmom Posted February 24, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 24, 2014 All balconies will have some coverage, but depending on the location of the sun, that does not mean shade. And even in the shade, seeing your ipad will not be easy in bright daylight. If you really want shade, you want the cabins on Penthouse deck, and aft cabins on Resort deck, as they are well shaded by the overhang from the decks above. rico Posted February 24, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 24, 2014 For a great balcony that is huge and covered I suggest the 1A's on the hump angles. We've stayed in 9292 twice. The balcony is extremely deep so the covered portion really provides a good portion of shading for most of the day. There are pictures and dimensions posted in the S-class cabin thread. Anyone have any guidelines for cabin selection? All are covered on Celebrity. None are open to the sky like they are on Princess ships. The only reason to book anything other than a veranda cat is for the extra Captain Club points, or for access to Blu in Aqua. We are sailing the 11 day in Nov. Other than those, all balconies are covered, most of them by the balcony of the cabin on the deck above. Here are the aft balconies on Eclipse. wallie5446 Posted February 24, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 24, 2014 Sorry, correct, the Aft are all open to the sky. This is the way both sides of the Newer Princess ships are, except for a very select few.
dkjretired Posted February 24, 2014 #9 Share Posted February 24, 2014 Just an FYI, the balconies on the Solstice class ships do not have lights.

Not exactly true... we normally book a suite and enjoy the added space (on the balconies too) and perks. The extra Captain Club points and Blu access are cool too! Maligator Posted February 24, 2014 #11 Share Posted February 24, 2014 Deck 12 has covered aft-facing verandas. The trade-off is being below the Oceanview Bar. Sent from my SCH-I915 using Tapatalk

Anyone have any guidelines for cabin selection? Many of the Deck 12 cabins are significanly more covered as our the balconies are the angles near the "hump" as they are deeper. PigBoy Posted February 24, 2014 Author #13 Share Posted February 24, 2014 Thanks to all for the great info! All our previous sailings have been on Princess ships where some balconies are covered, some partially covered and some not at all. We've pretty much decided in cat 1A room 9192. Thanks again!! Don That is what I figured. When we sail Princess we try and book one of the Emerald mini's toward the aft too get a covered balcony. We were in a C2, 9241 last year and have a regular 1A, 8226 this year. Our last Princess was on the Ruby Nov 2012. You will enjoy Celebrity!
