Do you have pics of your flowers delivered to your cabin?

WHITE! I see a white rose in there! See that is what he called to order and the Fun Shop said they could not do white roses. He called again and someone said that a local floral shop will deliver them. I think if he calls one more time, he will get another answer. I gave him all the PVP info and he is going to call tomorrow.

All your flowers are beautiful and I will show him the pics then he can handle it from there. Thanks again!

I am not sure you have seen some of the other threads but be aware you are not allowed to take them off the ship so enjoy them in the cabin as much as you can.

Thanks! I did see those posts and I told him that as well so he doesn't pitch a fit for me to take it with me. He ended up telling me what he was doing because he was hitting brick walls and didn't know what to do. I told him I would turn to all of you to get some answers. :)

Why wouldn't they let you take it? The room stewards would just have to toss it out at the end of the cruise anyway.

I hope they let you, as I was thinking of buying flowers for a special someone on the cruise.

I think it's due to 'agriccultural laws' - e.g. not being able to take any fruits/veggies, etc off the ship - perhaps fresh flowers are included in their 'definition'??? I have heard of cruisers not being allowed to take their flowers off the ship.....

We bring fresh flowers on the ship with us- usually try to find a local farmers market in embarkation city and/or one of the ports. Last fall, we had a beautiful huge bouquet of sunflowers we enjoyed the whole cruise and it brightened our cabin! (& bring a $ store vase so we don't feel bad leaving it behind!)

When the hubby goes to order your flowers he can ask if you are or are not allowed to bring the flowers off the ship. I have taken flowers onto the ship but have never needed to take any off.

its pretty clear in the documentation.. you can not bring them off the ship.

This does not mean people havent been allowed due to lax representatives but you cant take them off the ship

Miscellaneous Concerns:

• Live Animals: Only qualified service animals once approved by Guest Access Services at time of booking.

Flowers and Plants: May be brought on board in the port of embarkation but are not permitted to be taken off the ship in the United States, per the U.S Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Agricultural Division.

• Musical Instruments: We will allow musical instruments onboard, however, if a noise complaint is received it will be confiscated by shipboard security and returned to the guest on the morning of debarkation.

• Radios/Boom Boxes: For the comfort of all our guests, radios and boom boxes can be used with headphones or earpieces when used in public areas.

• Wrapped Gifts: Guests may bring wrapped gifts on board; however, due to heightened security, the gift may have to be unwrapped, upon request.

• DVDs/VCRs/Nintendo/Play Units: Due to compatibility issues with stateroom televisions, these items can only be utilized in suites and guests must provide their own RCA cables.

• Fish Caught on Fishing Expeditions: The fish cannot be brought on board; it must be shipped home.

• Floatation Devices: For the comfort of all our guests, rafts, tubes and floatation devices other than those used as life preservers (water wings) cannot be used in the swimming pools on board.

• Golf Clubs: Should be included with checked baggage and remain in the cabin when not in use.

• Items for In Port Use only: Snorkel gear, skateboards, fishing rods (packed), tennis rackets, kites (packed), roller blades/skates, metal detectors, Boogie Boards no more than 42 Inches in length. These items must be stored in stateroom.

is the vase yours to keep if you choose?

I love seeing the photos of the flowers. I'm considering sending myself some flowers to brighten up my room and hopefully make it smell great.

Absolutely! I ordered a dozen roses for my DW for our 20th anniversary. I suppose we could have tried to figure out a way to take the roses home with us, but I don't think they would have survived the trip. We carefully packed the vase to prevent damage, and it made the trip intact. We still use the vase from time to time.:)

We used to think this too. On our Oct 2013 cruise, we asked the customs agent (in Tampa). He said you can bring them off. The flowers just need to be checked by them to be sure they have no bugs on them.

Our next cruise you can be sure we'll bring home the goods! :D

not according to carnival. maybe its hit and miss depending on what port but it is not allowed according to carnival and I wouldnt want someone to buy flowers with the expectation that they can take them off only to find out they cant.

at best you can say that this rule is enforced sometime and sometime not

ROFL

so now I decide to go directly to the CBP and here is what they say.

Can I bring cut flowers for myself or significant other?

Most cut flowers are able to enter the United States. However, they must be declared and able to be inspected by an Agriculture Specialist. If the plant material is found to be propagatable or bug and disease agents are present the plant material will be seized and denied entry. For the complete regulations please review the USDA Cut Flowers and Greenery Import Manual.

Colonel Angus recommends never fully trusting any rules or regulations found on the Carnival website. Many times they are outdated and/or incorrect.

Colonel Angus spouse has brought back flowers to the mainland multiple times after a Carnival cruise from San Juan and has never experienced an issue, including going through the mandatory USDA Agriculture inspection at the airport.

You're probably right --- hit or miss. We did see alot of flowers being taken off.

I've also wondered about the straw hats that made from fresh palms leaves. I've seen those taken off and go through customs too.
