Like a sniffer dog and a seasoned gambler seeking out potential “high rollers” HH sidles up and talks wine explaining that he has never tried the Chateau Rothschild ….. sometimes it works.

Dearest ho-hum,

what are you talking about???

Gcmv is shocked to read these lines (but now he knows why ho-hum buttonholed him). ;)

But gcmv forgives you, old chap, whenever ho-hum and blondie will watch the outstanding gcmv-holiday-family-funnel-collection, gcmv will pour the very best Riesling of his wine cellar, though he is no "high roller" at all ... :D

Finnish is "Flowerpot Men" as this link demonstrates in this interview with Professor Stanley Unwin which HH believes is self-explanatory.

So if you are ready ?

Sitting comfty bold

Two square on your botty ?

Then we will begin.

I'm sure I met this chap at the TOYB at 2.00am on a previous voyage.

I seem to recall at the time that he made perfect sense.

What's that Sundance ?

You'll match it for SDI !

Hey check the link below out:

http://www.travelchannel.com/interests/travels-best/articles/travels-best-cruises-2015

Sea Dream is best for the Caribbean......according to these chaps.

Viking Star won best for Europe......obviously the decision was made before engine stopped !

HH hears they mainly keep to the port in Tallin !

Ouch !

Now instead of Hum having to tell you what's going on.

You could follow SD on Facebook yourself.

They have really good posts....yes they do. Truly.

Traveling with a four year old boy is like transferring a serial killer between prisons.

Jim Gaffigan about his son

PS Just tryin' to get that magic 120K for the tequila party tonight on SDs, courtesy of B&S (yes Hum knows what it sounds like......now "wash your mouth out with soap and water right now chile' and then 3 Hail Mary's and 5 Our Father's......yes 5, dammit).

It feels like Friday here with HH.

Now, now gcmv, you know very well Hum was talking about the BIG EGO males that occasionally drift through SD.

You, my dear chap are a charming sophisticated gentleman of discerning taste and refinement (hope that placates him !).

What is HH talking about ?

You do wonder sometimes, dont you.

Yep.

That's frigging it !

You know, when your name is longer than your post, something is wrong there.

Suppose we must be grateful for the full stop....suppose you believe it "fleshes it out" a tad.

Suppose too, we must be grateful, you "swung by".

Busy man you know, what with all that cavorting around, going to concerts, ball games and the rest.

A man of few words.......and getting fewer......

HH remembers those wild, crazy, almost rambling posts of yesteryear with gems like "Oh my !".

Two whole words and an apostrophe !

Heady days indeedy - doody.

You do know the topic moved on from beer a while ago.

And as you obviously identify, the beer part was an "incy-wincy" piece of a much greater piece of a thorough critique by yours truly....but oh no, it was the beer mention that raised your attention.

Have any of you noticed.....he ONLY posts about BEER these days........no, just sayin'.

No there's nothing wrong with that....just sayin' that's all.

Ho Hum's "got your number" and no mishtakin'.

Still good to hear from you.

No - ho-hum can not surprise me.

Gcmv only needs three things:

A dictionary, a bottle of Riesling and 20 minutes of time to understand everything of ho-hum's jottings ... :D

By the way - Herr and Frau gcmv are looking forward to their one-week-break in Alto Adige (Dolomites) starting at Aug 9th.

Just to sweeten you ... ;)

All together now..."Hail to the Ale!"

And hail to 120,000 occurrences when persons had nothing better to do with their "precious" time.

Speaking of vacations, we are a month out from our trip to Brittany, Normandy, and the Dordogne. Planning is all done, but I could use a recommendation for a car service from LHR Terminal 5 to the Portsmouth ferry terminal.

We have a ride booked with "Aquacars" in Portsmouth. Anyone have experience with them? Can anyone recommend a super reliable service? We only have a four hour window to make the ferry.... We do not have to pick up luggage as we have two, stackable carryons each (thanks BA for being generous to non-coach passengers in that regard.)

Also, can Uber pick up from LHR? Figure they would be a last ditch backup

Thanks!

You are a bloomin' marvel old friend.

Now tell us all about it when you return......no need to send photos.

In fact, in the name of all that's sacred: no photos !

(Well presumably if you do send them, there will be no funnels).

Have a great time...love to frau gcmv.

Verily “all hail to the ale ......(not forgetting) and a sweet white wine for the lady"

But ‘precious” TIME ?

That old chestnut.

Einstein’s take is that:

Time is relative, and flexible and "the dividing line between past, present, and future is an illusion".

So reality is ultimately TIMELESS.

This sounds pretty bizarre from the view of classical physics, but from the view of consciousness theory and spirituality, it fits in perfectly.

And HH must challenge you with your claim "nothing better to do".

Raising a smile, a silent chuckle, offering advice and camaraderie......yes they are not monumental positive life changes but nevertheless there is some value and may go a little way in re-balancing some of life's vicissitudes experienced occasionally like seeing a 30% reduction on a case of Dom Perignon, 2005 one day too late !

Dammit !

HH observes you hail from Brigadoon.

So time is indeed precious in that mythical place, where according to the story, Brigadoon is a Scottish village which appears every hundred years for one day, as part of a deal with God which protects the village from harm.

For the citizens of the village, the century passes as though it is only a single night.

The enchantment on the village of Brigadoon will only last as long as no citizen leaves.

If the enchantment is broken, the village will disappear forever into the Highland mists (it is actually based on a much older German folktale, no doubt gcmv lives in the original Brigadoon).

Raggy, we only use Parkers. They would do the LHR to Portsmouth trip, greeting you at terminal.

They ain't cheap but reliable, professional and great cars.

Cannot offer any advice on your other queries, sorry.

Thanks! What is the appropriate tip for this kind of transfer in the London area? We'll need to pick up a few pounds for the tip when we get our euros. Don't anticipate needing pound denominated notes for anything else.

No tip needed for Parkers.

Let Hum know if you find Smiths Cars. Haha

7. Concierge / Reception, Shop & Purser: 10**** (4 star)

SDYC: We are VERY proud of our ladies!

HH: Yes siree ! And with bloody good reason. Hum admires them so much. Wonderful people.

- Frud & Arla are exceptional. Always energised, approachable, smiling, very helpful, knowledgeable and the smartest duo on the ship

- Katherine "the great"

- great vibe from Tony

- Mirasol the night steward is very nice

- Elena the Purser is out-standing. Bills always correct and invaluable dealing with Customs.

8. Onboard Recreation: 9

SDYC: Many thanks for the great comments on the Activities team and Gareth. Will look into the speakers and amplifier at the TOY bar.

HH: No, no, no ! The speakers and amplifiers were recently replaced and were brilliant. It’s praise not criticism !

- TOYB speakers and amplifier

- Activity Director: Nick. Great D-J'ing

- Dragana lovely

- Gareth fantastic

....and so to continue:

9. Shoreside Activities: 10

SDYC: It is very difficult to please everyone with our choice of YLAs, and guests do have varying perceptions of what we are trying to achieve.

HH: You have HH's sympathy...must be nigh on impossible.

- N/a (personally) but other guests seemed generally well impressed though whatever criticisms were heard were ill-judged, ignorant and downright dumb (no shopping in Stromboli, no lava flow on Mount Etna compared to Hawaii and other dumb-ass comments. Ye Gods !).

- Activity Director: Nick. Charming, courteous, bright and very well spoken. Caring of passengers.
