Ruby Casino Question?

 Share

Recommended Posts

I just returned from the Ruby. Although I was able to put cash into a slot machine when I won I could not cash out without a sea pass card. The winnings went into the "cruise bank" I could use the bank to continue playing on another machine or go to the cashier with my sea pass card and cash out. Hope this answers your question.
I've heard that some cruise lines have changes to use your sea pass only in the casino? Is that the case for the Ruby as well? I hope not....I generally take a predetermined amount with me to the casino and once it's gone thats it. Way to easy to overspend on your sea pass.
Do you mean "changes?"

If you meant charges, there is no fee to charge your cabin account to obtain money for use in the casino.

If you mean changes, I do not understand the question.

You insert your cruise card and select an amount you want for your bank. You are unable to go over that amount unless you decide to add more. As Caribill says, there is no charge for this.
Hope this answers your questions.

As MinnieM reports, you can play with cash in the slots. If you end up with credits left on a machine when you're ready to move on, you'll have to put them onto your cruise card. You can then take your cruise card to the cashier and cash out or else put your cruise card into another machine and play your credits on it. Any credits left on your cruise card have to be cashed out at the casino before it closes on the last night of your cruise.

OK, Princess gives you two options to start. First, you can always put cash into a machine. But, as others have noted, you can only cash out into your cruise card.

To do that you have to put in your card and set up a bank account with a pin #.

Say you play-you create your account and put in $50. You win $500!! you press cash out and the $500 goes onto your card.

Now, here is where it gets interesting. You can leave that $500 on your card and play off it, or you can go to the cashier and cash out. If you cash to, the bank account is still there for later cash outs.

Princess now gives you the option of credit by charging a bet to you onboard account. There are a number of steps to this so it can't happen accidentally.

If you want to play only in cash, put the cash in and when you are done, immediately cash out from your card.

Thank you, that explains it very clearly.

I have a couple questions.

Im one that likes to put a five or ten in different machines and see if it hits. But I don't like to have to carry all those small bills onboard. Will the casino split my $20 or $50 into smaller bills to play with before I start.

This whole concept seems like a pain in the neck, but I guess they get you to spend more than you had set aside.

How do the tables work?? Still use cash to buy chips??

Also, what kind of table games do they all have? Really like Texas hold em tables (just against the dealer, not a full game) Also 3 card poker. Are there either of these??

thanks

I shouldn't answer this because I'm not sure about Princess
Yes any table game will except cash. Most cruise line let's you get cash off your cruise card at table games. Just sit down and hand over your card.
There is most likely a 3% charge getting chips this way
.
Most casino offer 3 card poker, its is one of the most popular table game's. as far is house Texas hold em, I doubt it, I have only seen this game in larger casinos.

Other princess vets can confirm this

FWIW, we just assumed a certain amount that we wanted to gamble and used our cruise cards to gamble that amount on the slots. When it was used up we were done (actually we broke even:cool:). You can use your cruise card to buy chips (I saw it done on the Ruby cruise we were on). Not sure about the version of Texas hold em game, but 3 card poker was available on the Ruby and on the Star cruises that we were on. Good luck, hope that you kill them in the casino!! Edited by ar1950

The cashiers will break any bills you want down, just ask them.

As for it being a pain in the neck, you get used to it pretty quickly-as long as you don't forget your card or leave it in a machine!

Thanks, but I forget one thing. At the end of the cruise you have to go to the cashier and close out your account. They will leave messages on your phone and even call you if you forget. All accounts must be closed by 12am on the last night-even if you're on a B2B.

Other princess vets can confirm this
Princess no longer charges a fee for obtaining cash at the tables. They did away with this practice about 2011 or so. Actually, at the tables you receive chips (regular table chips) which you will eventually redeem for cash at the casino cashier's cage.

Warning: this is not meant to be a "free of fee" ATM! You are expected to use these chips to play at the table. If you don't, but immediately go to cash in, they will let you do this ONCE, and then your card will be locked out of the procedure.

Good luck and Shalom from Tel Aviv, Andy
