NO... but you can either send the items out for pressing or hang them in the bathroom and "Steam it up" Steve
Phxazzcruisers Posted March 23, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 23, 2014 If they catch you trying to bring them on board, they will wind up in the "naughty room" and you will be able to get them at the end of the cruise. Not worth the trouble.

Strange, in Celebrity's Q&A's they say Steamers or irons are not allowed onboard. However, there is a full laundry and dry-cleaning service available onboard for reasonable rates. psbhappy Posted May 21, 2014 #16 Share Posted May 21, 2014 I iron everything and get teased about it. I have never needed pressing or ironing on a cruise. I simply put the item on the hook inside the bathroom, turn the shower heat all the way up and give it a few minutes. It works every time. Sascol Posted May 21, 2014 #18 Share Posted May 21, 2014 Just curious as to WHY they have a policy against steamers? They are not a fire hazard like an iron would be and they do not use any more power than a hairdrer or a curling iron. Thoughts?

cle-guy Posted May 21, 2014 #21 Share Posted May 21, 2014 There was some back and forth in another recent thread about steamers. The prohibited items list from cruise docs or getting ready-wjhat to pack section does not mention steamers as someone pointed out to me, yet I know I have sen it someplace they are not allowed...must be FA's? Any chance you can link to it? The other thread they also said power strips were not prohibited, only extension cords....same deal the what to pack did NOT say anything about power strips, yet I was certain I had read of them explicitly being not allowed, though I say a power strip has an extended cord therefore it is a fancy extension cord. though many (myself included) do travel with both extension and power strip....however I make sure mine are bevy duty appliance rated for safety reasons (meant for air conditioners and heaters). From Celebrity Web site Q: Is my stateroom furnished with amenities that I don’t need to pack? A: All stateroom bathrooms are equipped with soap, shampoo, conditioner and a wall-mounted hair dryer. All ships in our fleet have at least one North American and one European outlet in every stateroom. Millennium Class and Solstice Class ships each have multiple North American and European outlets. Steamers or irons are not allowed onboard. However, there is a full laundry and dry-cleaning service available onboard for reasonable rates. Regular service, picked up before 9AM - returned next day. For same day service, picked up before 9AM and returned same day, add 50% express service surcharge. All suites have a safe located in the closet. All staterooms have a safe behind the desk mirror or in the closet. http://www.celebritycruises.com/footer/faq.do?pagename=footer_pages_faq#
Rare cruisestitch Posted May 21, 2014 #25 Share Posted May 21, 2014 Welcome to the wonderful world of Celebrity inconsistency. Here is the list of what not to pack, from their website: Firearms & Ammunition, including realistic replicas Sharp Objects, including knives and scissors* Illegal Drugs & Substances Candles & Incense Coffee Makers, Clothes Irons, Electrical Extension Cords, & Hot Plates Baseball Bats, Hockey Sticks, Cricket Bats, Bows and Arrows Skateboards & Surfboards Martial Arts Gear Self-Defense Gear, including handcuffs, pepper spray and night sticks Flammable Liquids and Explosives, including lighter fluid and fireworks HAM Radios Dangerous Chemicals, including bleach and paint Alcoholic Beverages** --------------------------------------------- Additionally, you will find on the website the following statement in the FAQ "Is my stateroom furnished with amenities that I don’t need to pack? ……Steamers or irons are not allowed onboard." ------------------------------------------------ At the entrance to the ship, you may find a document posted. You may have walked past it a hundred times and never noticed it. Prohibited Items SQM 5.12.3 R12 The following items are prohibited aboard all Celebrity ships. (see exceptions, section 5.12) For questionable items not on the list, the Staff Captain and the Security Officer will determine what is or is not allowed onboard. If something is on one list as forbidden, but omitted from the other two, what does that mean? Which list should passengers adhere to? ------------------------------- The fact is, that passengers HAVE been stopped and had items taken from them, including kettles, extension cords, clothes irons, steamers, electric coffee pots, and power strips. OTHER passengers have gotten through with all of the above. One passenger's success at taking on a steamer, or a kettle, or a pair of scissors, or a hammer does not mean that the next passenger will be equally successful. On a recent cruise I was on, some passenger's scissors (less than 4 inch blades) were taken by Security in Auckland, New Zealand. Others on the same cruise brought the same kinds of scissors on board with no problem. Some posters report bringing steamers aboard with no problem. Others have theirs taken. Just be ready for anything.
