charlie52 Posted March 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 27, 2014 We flew into FLL for our last cruise 12/28/13 and used a taxi to get to the hotel. Seemed like a great plan until we arrived and the taxi line was at least an hour long. Not a fun experience shuffling along with loads of luggage :( Is this the norm? Wondering if we should just hire a car service? Can anyone recommendation a car service in FLL?

You arrived the Saturday before New Years. Take a cab, it will be fine.

thinfool Posted March 27, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 27, 2014 Fyi, Many if not most of the hotels in the FLL vicinity have their own (free) shuttles that run every 15-20 mins or so. They stop in the same area as the taxi stand.
eandj Posted March 27, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 27, 2014 Hotels offering a shuttle are the ones near the airport. Take a cab if headed to downtown/beach hotels. That wait would be very unusual on a normal day, whether weekend or weekday. You really did hit something unusual.
fishywood Posted March 27, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 27, 2014 I see you prefer cruising at the busiest times of the year. How long the taxi queue is also depends on what time your flight arrives. Friday or Saturday evening is a tough time to catch a taxi at the airport as there are plenty of higher fares to be found on Las Olas or the beach. My solution would have been to find a hotel with its own airport pick-up service--but it is too late to worry about that. And with one week to go I would assume you have many more important things to do than try to find a car service with availability on a Saturday on such short notice. Just grin and bear a moderate wait for a taxi and enjoy your two weeks at sea.
