There is a thread going about passenger behavior being on the decline. I admit I posted a few negative things I have seen lately. But someone else posted some GOOD things she has seen so could we try a thread like that? List nice things we have seen our fellow PASSENGER S do? [emoji1]

Here's one...my daughter and I cruised on the Pride in January. We met a husband and wife with whom we hit it off immediately and spent a lot of time in the casino. My daughter was drinking one of the classic cocktails and collecting the $5.00 match play coupons. Funny thing is she doesn't play table games. Lol. She gave them to the husband and he played blackjack with them. He ended up winning pretty well and he then split the winnings with her!!! How awesome of him to do that!!!

on a cruise in 2008 there was a toddler girl near the casino crying her head off, obviously looking for mama... after looking around for her mother the husband went to Guest Services to report it and the wife gathered the little girl up, sat with her, sang to her and generally calmed her right down. After about 20 minutes the girl's father ran into the area frantically looking for the baby. Seems that Mom thought Dad had the baby and vice versa!

But meanwhile this woman, a perfect stranger, held this baby and just was so great with her... she made me smile to watch her. And she was even nice to Dad, didn't rage out at him about losing the girl like some would- this was obviously caring parents who proved that it's way too easy to lose track of a little one!

We've had wonderful interactions with virtually everyone we've ever met on a cruise.

The only negative experiences we've had with fellow travelers have come from land based vacations. Quite a few at Disney World for starters...

Hey Bosn, seems like most people would rather complain than write something good...

For wife and I, at dinner one night, there was a loud, large family sitting next to us who came in late... the next night, the parents were alone. We had some spots at our table that were open. Well, the waiter brought them over to ours since they were alone... That night, we thought they were a bit standoffish... But the rest of the cruise (another 5 nights), they continued to sit with us and we had a great time with them... So glad they came over. In fact, the last night, I try to get back to a normal eating pattern, instead of my usual 2 apps, 2 or more entrees, 2 desserts. Ok, I eat once a day... 6am -> 10pm... Well, he ordered the ribs (which we both so enjoyed), and he looked at me and said, dig in... how could I refuse... :) Certainly made dinner a very nice time.

A passenger knocked on our cabin door. In his hand was DH's camera which had been left in a public area. The man had turned on the camera and saw a picture of our luggage tag (always the first picture on our cameras). It was easy for him to return it directly to us. Thank goodness for honest people!

I just returned from the Liberty this morning. What a great group of kids in this cruise. My nephew was in the 15-17 age group. They were all well mannered and calm the whole time. They always hung out at their club or arcade, and at 1:00 am went to the Lido for pizza. The youth counselor was in the club with them the whole time. I have never seen so many well behaved kids on a cruise.

There was an exception: There was a 17 year old girl who got super drunk. A lot of parents were concerned and called the cruise director because they wanted to know who served the alcohol to her. None of the other kids were involved.

When we were on the Dream, we couldn't find our sunscreen. I think it fell out of my bag somewhere. A couple sitting next to us overheard me panicking (I wanted to make sure I at least had something on my kids and we were on the beach in Costa Maya) and offered us every kind of possible sunscreen you could think of - "What do you need? 4? 8? 15? 30? 50?" :) Yes, they were from our ship but we met them on the beach.

Thank you for sharing that story( and everyone else for their stories.) I never thought of putting a copy of my cruise luggage tag as my Ist picture. What a great way to let your fellow cruisers know where you are should you leave your camera behind.

Also a great way to prove it's yours! I know someone who had a very expensive bike stolen. When the thief took it in for repairs the original owner was notified. (happened to use the same repair shop and the bike was not common in the area.) The bike owner and police were waiting when the bike was picked up. Ownership was proven by a small ID card inserted into a part on the bike.

This was on our first cruise and our travel agent sent us two bottles of champagne unknown to us til we got to the dining room. While we were waiting to enter the dining room a gentleman started a conversation with us like he has known us for years, very friendly and his wife was also. Well when we got into the dining room and after the meal we found out that this couple was celebrating their 25 wedding anniversary so we took the other bottle of champagne over to them and toasted them for their anniversary.. It made our night. You can meet the nicest and the most obnoxious people on a cruise ship and as far as I am concerned the obnoxious people are only showing their IQ and as many people that there is on a ship hopefully only a few will have the grumpys...;)

Great thread! On our last Liberty cruise, a mom and three boys were seated near us in the MDR. We'd always chat a little before dinner. On the last night of our cruise, she bought us all gingerale (we were travelling with our kids too), and asked us to join them in a toast to our wonderful cruise. Just thought is was very nice of her!

We have met some wonderful people in our travels, and feel very fortunate to have kept in touch with many :)

I believe that was me!:D I was getting tired of hearing all the bad stuff.

Here are some other things I've seen on cruises...

My DS (at age 10) exchanging cellphone numbers with a girl he had met onboard telling her that he was very good at math and that if she needed help with her homework, she should e-mail him and he would walk her through the problem.

A young teen dressed up in a tux escorting what I think would be his very elderly grandmother into the MDR on formal night. They had their arms entwined and the granny had an awesome grin on her face, as did the young man.

A group of teens (including my DS at 15) going into the Bristro restaurant on NCL all dressed up...not a formal night and not on dates, just a group of what I was later told by the Matre D was "A wonderful group of kids. I had stopped by the next night to ask if they had been well-behaved and was told that, not only were they well-behaved...they were great tippers!":D When I asked the DS about it, he told me that they all chipped in $5 each for tips. Awesome! To add to that, the DS had asked me if he could charge his dinner to the Sign and Sale card and then gave us the money for it. He said all the other kids (about 7 of them) had done the same. They truly wanted to be "grownups".

Unlike some others, I love teen-aged kids on cruises. I love watching them learn their way through life, watching how they interact with other kids, adults, and the cruise staff. Yes, they aren't all perfect...but so many of them are just a wonderful delight!:D

Number of years ago I was swimming in the pool & hit my hand/engagement ring on the ladder of the pool. As I lifted my hand up to see if I cut it I saw the prong broke on my ring & the diamond fell out somewhere in the pool. A fellow passenger saw the look of panic on my face, asked what happened and promptly cleared the pool of all swimmers - and not one of them complained. She asked children who had snorkle masks to let her borrow them & then distributed them to her husband & a couple of others in her group. We searched for a while to no avail and again not one complaint from passengers about being asked to stay out of the pool while we looked.

Just as my husband arrived on the scene (busy eating at the buffet - lol) & we discussed with staff about emptying the pool & hoping the diamond would get caught on the filter grid & pray it didn't go thru. Next thing a young girl about 12 yrs old popped her head out from the water & screamed "I found it!!!" & cupped her hand onto my husband's passing the diamond along! My husband got a napkin and said he was locking it in the safe until the end of the cruise. I never even saw this child go into the pool, it had only been the people the woman had directed in. I kept insisting to my husband that I wanted to see the diamond because I was sure he put this child up to saying she found it so the cruise wouldn't be ruined (1st sea day). At any rate this little mermaid angel heped us out & yes, we did make sure we took her cabin # to drop off a letter of thanks & a reward.

I can't think of one thing in particular that stands out, but on our Valor cruise last year on the May 5 - 12 sailing (Southern Caribbean itinerary out of San Juan) we never witnessed any poor behavior. Our fellow passengers were a very pleasant, considerate, laid back, and overall friendly group. We met several people who we enjoyed spending a little time talking with and it was nice seeing them around the ship throughout the cruise. On our flight back, there were several others from our cruise on the same flight which made the time waiting in the check in line and at the gate go by quickly. Our Valor cruise will always be one of my favorites, not only for the spectacular itinerary but because of our fellow passengers. Great group!

Hubby and I are trivia nuts, so needless to say if there is a trivia game we are generally there. We've noticed that the same group of people tend to show up at trivia no matter what the topic is or where it's located on the ship. We had a ton of fun hanging out with these people and there was a lot of ribbing, etc that went on when somebody would get something wrong.:D

On my visit to Cozumel I got dehydrated and refilled with a couple of margaritas. After a taxi ride back to the pier, and the tasting shots, I was staggering. I asked a couple of young punks to help this old lady back to the ship and they were most gracious and walked me back. Embarrassed and grateful......

After playing the slots in the casino on the first night of one of our early cruises, I got up and walked away from my small travel bag. Someone turned it into the Pursers Desk. Nothing was missing, they hadn't even looked inside as the Purser said they opened my wallet and found 2 previous Sail and Sign cards along with my ID. They didn't leave their name or room number so I wasn't able to thank them, but I certainly appreciated their honesty.

We've found cameras and S&S cards, always turn them in. We know that stomach lurching sickness of losing something and hoping that someone has done the right thing and taken it to the Purser's desk.

I use a walker and am not a really fast walker. I had been waiting for an elevator for over 15 minutes. Everytime an elevator came people ran into it before I had a chance to get in. I was getting very frustrated. Several ladies came by and noticed people pushing me aside to get into the elevator before me when they were walking up. The formed a line at the entrance of the elevators and told people that I had to get on the next elevator before any one else was going to get through them. The elevator came and I got on. As the elevator door closed they walked to the elevator so that others could get to the elevator area. I was so thankful. I wasn't sure how much longer I would have been standing there waiting if they had not have come and helped me.

On our cruise a couple years ago, there was a group of mentally challenged adults. After most people had left the deck party, two of the men were still dancing. They loved to dance!! Our group had been enjoying watching them dance, so myself and the two other ladies in our group went and joined them. They were thrilled and were having their chaperones take pictures of us with them. I think we were more thrilled at their reactions than they were with us dancing with them. They were a delight and we had seen them many times on the ship having a great time. We found out from their chaperones that they did this every year.

I travel solo probably more than 50% of the time. My tablemates have always been fantastically friendly people and usually we hang out at least a bit away from the dining room. One woman traveling with her parents even taught me how to do several different Latin dances on one cruise. I usually don't dance, but she insisted and I ended up having a great time.

Once on the Miracle there was an older woman who we saw frequently on the ship participating in trivia, game shows etc. I was with our 14 month old DS one afternoon sitting in the atrium waiting for DH to return from scuba diving and she sat down and we made small talk to pass the time. The next day I was leaving our cabin and saw her leaving hers right next door. Didn't even know we were neighbors and then I started to panic thinking she must have been trying to nap when my son was fussy. I was about to apologize when she gave my son one of the medals she won from a ship activity because he was such a quiet, well behaved baby. Very nice of her to do and he still has it.
