RSF Cruiser Posted April 16, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2014 I frequently check for price drops on my upcoming cruise to Alaska, and saw Princess was offering an additional $75 per person OBC (cabin price was the same). Called my travel agent and they gave me the credit. Pays to keep checking prices...

janetz Posted April 17, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 17, 2014 (edited) I frequently check for price drops on my upcoming cruise to Alaska, and saw Princess was offering an additional $75 per person OBC (cabin price was the same). Called my travel agent and they gave me the credit. Pays to keep checking prices... Our cabin price dropped 250. a few months ago. Then, offered 200 onboard credit for all balconies, which just ended. I check daily. :) Edited April 17, 2014 by janetz
octoberdana Posted April 17, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 17, 2014 We are booked with a Travel Agent. Today we got a competing offer and our TA says that he can't match it. We now have the dilemma of going with a lower offer and going with a new agent, or keeping the agent we like and paying a higher price. I wonder how there can be so much variance between agents? caribill Posted April 17, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 17, 2014 I wonder how there can be so much variance between agents? o Some agents have "group" bookings and can offer a lower price because of group volume pricing and/or amenities. o Some agents give more of their commission to customers via lower pricing. o And some agents do not pass on any discounts or part of their commission to their clients. As a former TA , this is exactly correct :) Princess allows discounting . A TA that offers exactly what is available by booking direct , may be taking advantage of a non shopper. ;)
AZJerry Posted April 17, 2014 #7 Share Posted April 17, 2014 I just noticed the additional $75 OBC today as well as a price drop of a whole $1! Called our Princes TA and got the bookings changed. I, too, check every day.

UPGrandma Posted April 18, 2014 #9 Share Posted April 18, 2014 Booked for August on Island and Noticed $200 pp price drop with $75 instead of $50 pp onboard credit. TA able to change it for us. We did have to add to the deposit we originally owed ($100 pp). Hooray. Alaska awaits
