gambee Posted May 16, 2014 Author #51 Share Posted May 16, 2014 I hate that card light controller, but I knew about this so I just brought with me one of my old cards and left it in there the entire cruise. BTW it’s an NCL card, lol.
gambee Posted May 16, 2014 Author #52 Share Posted May 16, 2014 (edited) The balcony is fairly large, much larger than the new Royal/Regal and Getaway/Breakaway. But slightly smaller than Allure/oasis. Edited May 16, 2014 by gambee
gambee Posted May 16, 2014 Author #53 Share Posted May 16, 2014 Thats Miami for you =) Not crazy about the Door on the breeze. Hmmmm, the RX did struggle with some pictures. I might to have rethink my current shooting style. The remote was malfunctioning, I never got around changing. I just worked around it, the problem was the with the power button. The safe was pretty large.
ItsAllAboutTheSass Posted May 16, 2014 #54 Share Posted May 16, 2014 Of all the people that do reviews on CC (Radio, Trainman, etc), these are the best.
gambee Posted May 16, 2014 Author #55 Share Posted May 16, 2014 I guess this is a good time to talk about my room steward… HE WAS THE BEST ONE I’VE HAD!!!! Let me explain, this guy was always ahead of me. It is almost as if he knew what I wanted every time, it was just crazy. Towel animals every day, my room was always impecable, I never noticed any imperfections (i have noticed some on all my prior cruises) and most importantly he worked INCREDIBLY FAST. I rarely saw him as I think that he had way too many rooms for just one person. But honestly, he was just great. He got things done right and fast. At the end of the cruise I took care of him, for his fabulous work. Unfortunately I forgot his name, I am just pathetic with names :/. Since my Vodka that I had pre-purchased was already in the room I decided to mix myself a drink and chill in the balcony for a little while. I also called my mom since she wanted to facetime a little to check out my room and some of the ship.
gambee Posted May 16, 2014 Author #56 Share Posted May 16, 2014 (edited) By the way I make these by hand ;) When I was on the Balcony I was lucky enough to catch a sea plane leaving and got the entire thing on video!!!!! Check it out! After I enjoy some down time I decided to get back to work and head out to the spa. Here are the prices for the spa. gambee Posted May 16, 2014 Author #57 Share Posted May 16, 2014 The spa was pretty nice, very mellow and relaxing inside. However there are two things to note, the first is that when I went in I saw a lady in the front desk and asked her if I could check it out. She said yeah sure, I waited there for for a few seconds waiting for the tour person and then she told me to just go in. Now, please note that I personally like it like this, that way I can walk slow and take a lot of pictures. And have no one trying to sell me products, while I am just trying to bring it in. But I am an exception. The problem I see with that is Carnival is missing out in a lot of sales. On all my other cruises I have had tour persons and they are there to try to sell products and some of them get a lot of sales. Throughout my tour I saw no one, to try tell me what they offered. The other thing that I noticed was that unless I did not tour the entire area I only saw 8 heated lounges, just seems a bit low for a ship this size. But then again it is about how much X has on their Solstice class ships. So here is the tour, like I said very nice facilities.
gambee Posted May 16, 2014 Author #58 Share Posted May 16, 2014 The entire time there was no one here, I actually did wanted to inquire about the scrub in the front as I do use them from time to time.
gambee Posted May 16, 2014 Author #59 Share Posted May 16, 2014 This area is absolutely fantastic to sit and relax. It had a very nice vibe, just mellow and relaxed. And now this is a couples room! It reminds me of the one in the Disney Dream. It was really nice, I wonder how much it goes for? Maybe in the price list, will be honest and say that I have not checked. gambee Posted May 16, 2014 Author #60 Share Posted May 16, 2014 How cool is that? notice the 2 separate seats? I could totally chill in there =) This pool was much larger than I thought it would be. But I guess in the end it depends on how many access passes they sell. This is something that I struggled to understand when I was reading reviews. How it works is that the people in Serenity can see towards this area. Although the glass is quite dark and its a little rough to get a clear view. Personally I would had liked that had side windows, but a dark roof cover the sun. It was really hot in there, almost like a sauna and jacuzzi all in one :D. gambee Posted May 16, 2014 Author #62 Share Posted May 16, 2014 You can see the hydrotherapy pool from serenity. This area is really really nice, but again it felt small for a vessel of this size.
gambee Posted May 16, 2014 Author #63 Share Posted May 16, 2014 After I was done with the spa tour I decided to head upstairs to serenity and check it out. Overall a very nice area, with comfy padded lounges. However, I rarely used this area… why you ask? well, it is a real shame that Carnival does not cover their jacuzzis with some kind of roof. It is simply too much sun exposure for me, I actually only made here 3 times and most of them were at night when the sun was fully gone. Although now that think about it a roof here would not work because of the wind. But something like the solarium of Oasis would be amazing, that was my favorite area of that ship. gambee Posted May 16, 2014 Author #64 Share Posted May 16, 2014 One thing I will never understand is why does Carnival covers their jacuzzis with glass around them. I am not a fan of that, I like when you can get the ocean breeze while I am in the jacuzzi. For those who don’t know me, I am jacuzzi fanatic, so I guess that is why I criticize this area so much. I will say that there are plenty of jacuzzis aboard this vessel, I never encountered a problem when trying to find a spot in one to relax. This is actually a really funny picture, here you get an idea of what I looked like that day. On one hand I had my camera, and on the other hand I had my mom on facetime. She did not want to miss anything, don’t ask me how I did it. I actually foretold that day and bought a battery case just for that day, lol. By the way, that picture was taken accidentally. gambee Posted May 16, 2014 Author #65 Share Posted May 16, 2014 Once you exit Serenity you encounter waterworks. Some people complain that the noise from waterworks damages the serenity environment, personally it was not an issue for me. How cool is this picture? This slide was my personal favorite, I actually did not care for the bowl one.
gambee Posted May 16, 2014 Author #66 Share Posted May 16, 2014 I kept on walking heading towards the kids club, these pictures are on the way there. Notice no lines in Tandoor? I ended up in the aft pool by accident.
gambee Posted May 16, 2014 Author #67 Share Posted May 16, 2014 Then I figured out where my mistake was done and I headed to right way towards the kids area.
gambee Posted May 16, 2014 Author #68 Share Posted May 16, 2014 The kids area, Camp Carnival as its called I believe. Is nicely decorated, I only took pictures this day of the top area, later on in the cruise I find two more areas and document those as well. I only visit this area for the review and so people can see what it looks like. But as you guessed I know nothing about this area, so I will let the pictures do the talking. gambee Posted May 16, 2014 Author #69 Share Posted May 16, 2014 After that I went one floor up and checked out the rope course, I never tried it out, not sure why. The area is really neat with pool tables, tennis tables, mini golf, fusbol, bar and even a hot dog stand.
gambee Posted May 16, 2014 Author #70 Share Posted May 16, 2014 I have more pictures of this area later on, no worries you will see it under more detail. I forgot to mention that my room card was malfunctioning so I went to guest services to get it changed.

gambee Posted May 16, 2014 Author #72 Share Posted May 16, 2014 This tends to happen if I leave the camera in “Illustration Mode” and some times I end up taking pictures that I wanted normal in illustration mode. They still come out pretty neat, so I keep them. I will stop here and review the costumer service desk. BEST EVER!!!! After the rude customer service that I experienced in Breakaway, I vowed to try to avoid all costumer service desks unless it was necessary. Well there is not way I could deal with a key card that took 5 tries to open the door, and that was sober. Just imagine after a few drinks I would be locked outside of the room sleeping in the hallway :D, lol. Just being silly you know. Anyway, Carnival has the friendliest and most efficient front desk I have ever dealt with. I went there a few times for some other minor issues and every time everything was solved fast and with a smile. One of the guys who took care of me, actually remembered me and asked if the previous problem fully solved already. Again Carnival another customer service point for you here. A few of the CC members had slightly different experiences than mine, but no one really complained about it. Well there was one case with a dirty dress, I am not sure how that end up, but Carnival was having a hard time getting a stain that was accidentally done by their staff. Anyway, I headed back to the room to test my new card and Viola it worked perfectly.
ssnewbie Posted May 16, 2014 #73 Share Posted May 16, 2014 I almost screamed when I saw that this was a Gambee Review!!!!! (I'm at work so I have to show some restraint.) gambee Posted May 16, 2014 Author #74 Share Posted May 16, 2014 Oh my bag arrived very early, I would dare to say the earliest of any cruise. So with the bag in the room and all my work for the day completed, I could finally go and enjoy myself a little more. I had a little more to drink and headed out to try the blue iguana tacos. Folks I am sorry that I am talking so much on day 1, but I figure if I get most of the this part out then the rest of the review flows much better. Lets talk a little about Blue Iguana, I think this was my favorite place to have lunch out of the entire cruise. I am not crazy about burritos, but I do love tacos. Here is a little secret, well not secret, but something that I did. In the taco section, they only offer fish, pork and chicken, but I requested shrimp and steak from the burrito side and they always made them for me. Anyway, great tacos, I was obsessed with them! gambee Posted May 16, 2014 Author #75 Share Posted May 16, 2014 These were not my best, but once I figured the routine I nailed it. I am not sure what it is... was it the tortilla, toppings or maybe the liberty to put 5 pounds of sour cream into each taco =). But I LOVED THIS PLACE!!! I sat there and enjoyed my food.
