Celebrity Reflection - "Liquid" Night Club Party in Solarium

Earlier this year I read a NY Times article about Celebrity aiming to introduce new immersive performances onboard to continue to evolve the cruising experience and attract the next gen travelers. On our cruise in April 2014 on the Celebrity Reflection, we got to experience one of their new concepts: Liquid Night Club in the Solarium. One night of the cruise, they close the Solarium and transform it into a "South Beach style" night club with lounge furniture, lighting effects, a Miami DJ, acrobatics performances, and a mermaid in the pool.

I imagine this is the something that folks will either love or hate. Personally, we enjoyed the idea since it was only one night of the cruise. That said, it was the type of thing that most people went to check out and stayed for 30 min or and then called it a night.

I've uploaded a video of it here on YouTube:

If the link doesn't work, just search for "Celebrity Reflection Liquid Night Club" on YouTube if you want to see the new onboard concept.

Thanks for posting....seems interesting in concept and something some pax will enjoy...but the DJ music , volume and room acoustics make it an event we'll pass on ..

Thanks for the link. I will be one of those folks to go and see what

it looks like in person;)....then I will decide if I like it enough to stay

for awhile....how long is the full performance?

Liquid is also listed on the "onboard highlights" section of th Summit. First noticed it a week ago, seems that the Summit is the only ship with this advertised as a "feature". Also new (to me) is the Scratch DJ academy, tenors or rock, and indulgence

Anyone have experience with these on the summit or any other vessel?

RCI also has the Scratch DJ and the same type party. We had it on both Oasis and Allure several years ago. Guess they are moving it to X. It was very popular on RCI.

So, is it true the Quasar lounge has been elimated on Reflection? Does the loud DJ music reverberate up the elevator stack and from the main atrium? We were on MSC Divina twice, and the loud disco from way up on deck 16 resonated all the way down the shaft to deck 9; poor design, no separation from the disco and the elevators. While we enjoy dancing, we also prefer a quiet nights sleep. So, is the central hump on Reflection loud up to deck 9 or beyond?

Yes Quasar has been eliminated. On the two Reflection cruises we had no issues with music/noise with the hump location.

They eliminated Quasar from Reflection. That area is a conference

room.

I wasn't very impressed by "Liquid" on Reflection, but I'm not in the demographic for the show. Found the music much too loud and the movements too repetitive. Left after about 20 minutes. I'm certain that a younger group would have enjoyed it. Must give Celebrity credit for trying some new ideas. Some of them will be hits, others will be misses.

Yes it does -- very poor design to use for very loud DJ music in Atrium.

Celebrity is not reputed to be a party ship ...quite the contrary .i think its hard to attract a younger crowd as Celebrity cruise are not considered cheap and with Specialty restaurants costing between 49-50$. I cannot see too many young people affording that .

I have been on 3 Celebrity ships so far ....by 10 pm the places are empty ...everywhere

I was asked to leave the casino at 11.30 because i was the only one there ......so not much of a party ship

People on Celebrity in my eperience are older ,want peace and quiet at night ...our neighbours went to bed when we went to late dinner ....but did get up at 6 am

I cannot see how loud music will please older crowds

So, how long was the actual performance? Anyone?

We didn't stay for the whole thing but I would guess there is performance activity for a solid hour between the acrobatics and the 10 min or so mermaid appearance. I'd expect that the DJ and light continue for a while as long as people are there and buying drinks. I got a hoot out of the fact that they were offering "bottle service" packages.

As much as I'd love to spend a night sleeping in the Solarium because I love it there, I didn't mind the venue being taken over one night of the cruise with the Liquid party. I don't expect it will last beyond this year, though, because I don't think the drinks sales are fantastic relative to the effort they have to put into transforming the venue.

We're in our early 30s and appreciate that there is an option like this onboard, though clubs and loud music aren't generally our thing either. I do love that Celebrity has a mixed crowd. We enjoy having conversations with people of all ages, whether over live music in the Ensemble Lounge or in the Captain's Club Elite nightly event.
